What was the logic behind closing down these schools, rather than just quarantining the two students?

Asked by Dutchess_III (46808points) October 16th, 2014

From this article.

“Extra precautions are also being taken for people who shared flights with Vinson. Three Texas schools – North Belton Middle School, Sparta Elementary and the Belton Early Childhood School – will be closed today after two students were on Flight 1143 Tuesday, school officials announced.”

The schools were closed so they could be disinfected.

But had the students even been back to school after the flight? I guess we should assume so.

The students were on the same flight as Amber Vinson on Monday, then attended class Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thanks. Now it makes sense. I guess I just figured they hadn’t been back to school yet.

Fucking Texas. Can we just let them secede now? I’mm never shocked when something stupid happens in Texas or Florida (the cesspool of the America.)

It wasn’t stupid, @tinyfaery. ?

That school should be more worried about the flu and the enterovirous.

People need to chill. Ebola is not the zombie apocalypse.

I agree people need to chill, but it shouldn’t be ignored or dismissed. I think they did the right thing.

And that’s what causes mass hysteria.

Well, due to the horrific nature of the virus, I don’t blame them for wanting to be sure, absolutely 100% sure, that none of the kids could get it. I know I’d want that for my kid!
