During the four Seasons, what things bring you solace?

Asked by Broken_EarthAngel (771points) December 5th, 2014

Heres mine

During Fall: I love taking relaxing walks in the local parks, taking in the refreshing view of the fallen leaves in their rich earthy colors.

During Winter: I enjoy a nice cup of peppermint tea as I watch the dusting of snow covering the wide open space outside my Apt, view from the balcony is great. Sometimes Ill invite friends over for a nice lil gathering.

During Spring: Sometimes Ill go on a nice boat ride, smelling the salty air and tanking in the scenery.

During Summer: 100% BEACH TIME ALL THE WAY!!

Autumn—those first cool days and nights after a long, hot summer, turning leaves, the coming holidays
Winter—those first few chilly days and nights, no lawn maintenance, sweaters
Spring—those first few warmer days, budding trees
Summer—the smell of freshly cut grass, the sounds of kids at a swimming pool, memories of those long, lazy summers when I was a kid, the song, “Summertime”

Fall: the colorful leaves, the slight chill in the air, the crunch of leaves underfoot when waling on trails.
Winter: the joy of hot tea, smuggling under the covers with my husband and doggie, soup.
Spring: New leaves, spring bulbs, the return of the birds and flowers.
Summer: Swimming, dinners outside on the deck from the grill.

Fall – the beginning of school year.
Winter – exam time, no rest for me.
Spring – the beginning of the next semester (luckily there is New Year’s Eve)
Summer – final exams, and my summer vacation!

walking on trails not waling.

Fall: relief from the heat, the dwindling presence of bugs as I do yard work, the leaves changing, the startup of my choirs after a break in the summer.

Winter: snow!, Christmas break, Thanksgiving

Spring: those deliciously warm days where you no longer need a jacket

Summer: thunderstorms, going to the beach, a break from my choirs, vacation.

Nothing, nothing, also nothing, and absolutely nothing.

Summer—no solace here. Deathly hot for months like upper 90’s. Homeowners with pools stay away from their yards. The pool water heats up quite fast and even the little ones stay inside. Grasses begin to brown in spots.
Fall—relief is the solace. You thought summer would never end. And the trees turn gold and red for five minutes. Best time of the year. The holidays loom, though, and with it the expense, work and sadness of thoughts of the past.
Winter—it’s great here lasting about four months with lots of sixty something degree days. Often sleeping with a fan blowing on your face due to seventy plus degree bedrooms. Think no yard upkeep? Think again. The people in this neighborhood pay God knows how much cash to have their leaves “mulched into” the ground. This is a very noisy, irritating process but they love to have not one leaf on their yard for two days. And then leaves continue to fall anyway. They must have money to burn as they keep paying over and over to banish those really ugly leaves from their property. Looking forward to snow? I do; but very, very rarely get one flake.
Spring—this is very brief here. People are out buying flowers for their flowerbeds, having their grass fertilized while they try not to think of the dreadful heat that will come way too soon.

@Aster Do you live in Florida or Arizona? I thought SoCal was too hot…

Summer: being in the sun, swimming, only needing to wear t-shirts and shirts and slide on shoes. In season foods like vidalia onions, watermelon, and nectarines.

Fall: if I live north enough the bright colors on the trees, especially the reds, mixed in with the evergreens. You have to be north enough though. Opening my windows for fresh air.

Winter: not having to race home with groceries. Snow fall is pretty, especially the first covering if virgin snow. As long as you don’t need clean of your car and driveway and commute to work. A vacation to a warm place.

Spring: finally winter is over. Sun, warmer, flowers and green. Windows open, although in some places the pollen is so bad it gets in everything.

I live in FL again and thrilled not to deal with very cold winters. I just wrote on another Q that it is Dec 6 and I’m by the pool 73 degrees (feels colder in the shade) cool breeze, blue skies, and sunshine. I open my windows all the time from Oct-April. It’s awesome. I’ve had the heat on some night in November, but the last few days we flipped it back to air conditioning.
