How can I cook this pork tenderloin?

Asked by hug_of_war (10735points) December 23rd, 2014 from iPhone

I have a 2 lb pork tenderloin I want to roast but there’s no 10” pans here and all the recipes say I should brown on all sides first. Can I skip this step? I know it increases flavor but is it necesary?

Dio you have a cast iron skillet or frying pan? You can easily brown a small roast in one of them and then stick in oven. It does increase flavor and sear the surface to help keep the juices in.

You could coat it with olive oil and it will brown in the oven. Start it at a high temp (425 or 450) for fifteen minutes and then turn it down to the temp called for in the recipe.

What kind of pan are you going to roast it in? Can you use that?

I’m just going to go for @marinelife‘s plan. I’m adventurous like that.

Yes, that should work fine.

Pork turned out yum yums.

We have taken pork tenderloin and cooked it in a crockpot. It gives you a great, melt in your mouth meat course. We usually use something like a Stubbs Green Chile marinade which will permeate the meat and, even more yummy, the potatoes if you choose to put them in the pot.
