What are you doing on this Thursday, December 25th?

Asked by jca (36062points) December 24th, 2014

Thursday, December 25, 2014 – what will you be doing?

Whether it’s Christmas for you, or you’re not religious or of another religion, are you seeing family, spending the day solo, working, resting, exercising. What are you doing Christmas Day, 2014?

Trying to get an appointment with a doctor for a newly uncovered malady. Oy.

Coloma's avatar

Celebrating tonight with my friends and daughter then tomorrow tending the ranch here while my friends travel. Other than the regular chores I’ll be taking it easy. @Pachy Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks!

Relaxing alone with a possible midday board walk with one friend and then dinner at some friends – who are caterers – mid-afternoon.

talljasperman's avatar

Eating KFC and pizza… staying indoors, taking frequent hot showers.

Just another day.

Sharing gifts with my wife and daughter in the morning, then over to the nephew’s for brunch and more gift giving, and finally, back home to relax, play with “toys”, and have a nice dinner. And, I don’t go back to work until Tuesday. Yippee

I’ll spend the morning doing rounds, visiting animals that have been left at home while their families are away for Christmas. Then I will visit my dad and, hopefully, be able to relax a bit.

Surfing. But Merry Christmas to those who celebrate,

Watching Zoey. Who did not sit on the dog one single time.

However, I did come around the corner and she jumped like she’d been electrocuted. Little twerp had dug a pile of dirt out of a plant I have on the floor. She knows not to do it, that’s why she jumped.
I gave her a few seconds time out on the bottom step of the stairs and shook my finger at her. Then she had to come help clean it up. I think she missed the point of that because she just had a blast throwing the dirt back in the pot, with the trash compactor as background music.

I put together some bikes last night, tomorrow the church and I will go to the projects to give them out, then I will take in a movie with one of the Brethren then go to sleep maybe.

edit Maybe piss poff some people on Fluther, or make some grammatical error to flush out the “Grammar Nazi”.

Staying at home, because we don’t have lessons on Thursday. All of my friends are either too lazy to hang out or have other things to attend to so… yeah.

longgone's avatar

Making Yorkshire Puddings, walking the dogs, taking my Christmas Bath – and then, gifts and turkey with my loud-but-otherwise-enjoyable family. 15 people.

After that, I will need to collapse with my new books and an episode of “Gracepoint”.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Oh wait! I misread. I thought you meant today. Tomorrow we’re going to Rick’s family for their Christmas. We can’t miss a Christmas because his dad is 92 years old. That’s OK. Had a great Thanksgiving with my kids.

Mariah's avatar

Good luck @Pachy.

I celebrate Christmas with my family tomorrow. I only just got home for the holidays on the 22nd. It is so good to be home…

After Christmas, we drive on up to my sister’s house to celebrate all over again.

I’m going to wake up, help my roommate cook some food for this lame holiday, and sit around all day because I’m poor until I pay my car off in two more payments.

Christmas Eve is the Christmas dinner in my husband’s family. We just finished it up about a half an hour ago. We had dinner, did the presents, a few things were a little annoying for me <sigh> but it was fine.

Tomorrow, Christmas Day, we are going to have breakfast out with my husband’s parents (so his mom doesn’t have to have to cook and clean again) and then drive home.

hearkat's avatar

Moderating, at the moment, contacting those I love who do celebrate and wishing them merriment. Enjoying a delicious sausage and gravy over biscuits brunch soon. Later, we’ll go see the final Hobbit film at the IMAX theater.

JLeslie's avatar

Turns out we didn’t eat breakfast out, we just ate a little something, and then my husband and his father decided to try to fix the washing machine (it’s needed fixing for a few months now, but they choose an hour before we are supposed to leave to take the thing apart. They were semi successful fixing one thing and making another thing worse.

Then we packed our stuff up to drive home. On the way home we stopped at Bok Tower for lunch, which we hadn’t planned, but I always have wanted to fit it in when we do the drive between our apartment and my Inlaws. We were able to hear the Carillon play, and see the house on the grounds decorated for Christmas.

I’m whipped here in CA. at 3:41…haha
Merriment last night with friends and my daughter, scads of champagne, not much sleep. JUST about done with the daily ranch chores. Cleaned horses stalls and fed early a bit ago, herding the ducks and geese into their freshly cleaned barn, have a hot bath running, trying to get a &^%#*(#% fire started that has gone out twice, and STILL have to get my shit together, look presentable and make another dinner for friends tonight around 6.

Oh man, I’m frazzled.
Okay…priorities… birds to bed, fire raging, then strip, get into my bath, relax for 20 minutes, primp, start peeling potatoes…..can she do it?

talljasperman's avatar

1 piece of pizza and one KFC chicken thigh and half a ham left for Christmas munching 4:49pm mountain standard time.

talljasperman's avatar

Going to munch on some ham.

talljasperman's avatar

Edit a little bit of ham left… I ate it cold… nice and filling.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Well, how did the wine thing go @talljasperman?

Drove 3 hours to Rick’s family. Was fun. 12 adults, 12 gifts for the gift exchange (Plus 5 kids, who didn’t qualify for the gift exchange. They each got their own present.) This year was The Battle of the Divinity, The Hammer and the 2 Pound Box of Chocolates. I wound up with the 2 Pound Box of Chocolates, but what I really wanted was The Hammer. :( Sniff.
One of the younger kids (16) was allowed to participate in the Gift Exchange for the first time. She wound up the the 2 Pound Box of Chocolates….then someone stole them from her, and then it somehow ended up in my lap. Thought she was gonna cry for a second (which is why kids can’t play,) but, then she stole my 25 Pound Box of Popcorn + 2 boxes of Chocolate Covered Cherries so it worked out great for her. She was much happier with the 25 Pounds of Popcorn than the 2 Pound Box of Chocolates.

Then we drove 3 hours back.

jca's avatar

@Dutchess_III: I assume you ate dinner there.

Coloma's avatar

@Dutchess_III 25 POUNDS of popcorn? Holy crap…was it deliverd in a barrel? haha

Dutchess_III's avatar

I don’t know how much it really weighed. Just a square cardboard box full of individual packs of pop corn! It was, may, 6, 7 pounds.

Yes, we ate dinner there @jca. Why?

talljasperman's avatar

@Dutchess_III I went on the 23rd to a buffet and had a half glass of Pepsi. The 24th I had pizza and KFC with 4 liters of pop. Now I just have a half slice of pizza and ham left and one piece of KFC and 1 liter of Root Beer. I ate some shortbread cookies. I stayed in bed and took two showers.

jca's avatar

@talljasperman: 4 liters of pop? I would float away on a soda bubble LOL.

JLeslie's avatar

4 liters?! That has to be a typo.

talljasperman's avatar

@Dutchess_III Four liters I still have one left. I also had orange and apple juice .

talljasperman's avatar

Im all depressed and exhausted.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Pee much @talljasperman?!

Why you depressed? It sounds like you had a good time.

Dutchess_III's avatar

(Just FYI, too much liquid can cause sodium depletion, which can lead to some depression and other issues.)

talljasperman's avatar

@Dutchess_III The food didn’t taste that good reheated.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Might try wrapping it in foil and putting it in the oven at 350 for about 20 minutes, rather than microwaving. I especially like left over pizza that way. The crust gets all crispy and it’s better than it was originally, IMO. If you do the pizza though, grease up the foil with butter or something or it will all stick to the foil.

jca's avatar

@talljasperman; That’s a ton of calories in that much soda. It is a waste, in my opinion, because there is no nutritional value in it, just empty calories.

Dutchess_III's avatar

One liter has 500 calories.

jca's avatar

OMG 2,000 calories in soda alone.

talljasperman's avatar

I ran out of egg nog. and I wanted more than just water.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Right. That’s about what his daily limit should be overall. It doesn’t even take into consideration the food and snacks and stuff.

longgone's avatar

Let’s keep in mind, though, that @talljasperman didn’t say four liters of pop is his usual daily amount. I think he’s been cutting back on soda, so he might have been indulging just this one day. I’m sure many of us have been consuming more than what’s good for us in the last couple of days.

Coloma's avatar

It is now the 26th and, it’s my birthday! haha
Cheers…this glass of wine is for you!

Dutchess_III's avatar

Oh, Happy Birthday @Coloma!

longgone's avatar

@Coloma Happy Birthday :)

Coloma's avatar

Thanks you guys…I really wasn’t fishing for recognition just stating a fact. Now..back to my goblet of wine, dinner at 5, come on out for the party. :-D

jca's avatar

@longgone: No lecture for him. Just shock.
