How many living people appear on legal tender around the world?

Asked by El_Cadejo (34610points) December 29th, 2014

Down in Belize all the money has the picture of Queen Elizabeth on it and this got me thinking about how most currencies feature long dead leaders or other important figures from their history. Aside from the queen, who appears on quite a few other countries money to my knowledge, how many other living people show up on money around the world?

Pictures of monarchs on money is a tradition that goes back to the beginning of coin. Nowadays it is only in places where someone acts like the modern equivalent of a monarch.

Of note for current events fans- Kim Jong Un took his grandfather Kim Il Sung off the 5,000 won note. NK watchers are waiting to see who might appear on a 10,000 won note expected in the new year.
