What am I doing wrong?

Asked by BlackSwanEffect (708points) January 5th, 2015

I use this deodorant that is meant to stop sweat for 48hrs or something. Meant to be for athletes, which is why I got it. But soon after putting it on, even just sitting on my ass, I feel a drop of sweat run down to my elbow! I’m not usually a heavy sweater, but now I’m worried that people will smell my BO! What do I do??

Try a powder deodorant? If you don’t already, drink more water and bathe more often.

If you have tried all deodorants and none of them work, botox injections in your armpits stops sweating. You would have to get injections once every 6 months or so. Pricey, but it is an alternative.

Get a different deodorant?

The 48-hour ones often contain substances which are said to be carcinogenics. Aluminium salts, for example.

I switched to a gel for the same reason. Or just find a mate that likes a smelly partner. If you using a deodorant you probably don’t smell. :)

Sweat is essentially odorless. It is the bacteria that grows on your body that after time will give you body odor. That is why we take showers and change our clothes. Also, deodorants are not meant to stop your pits from sweating….antiperspirants are a better choice for this. Some work better than others. I have found the Degree brand to work the best and longest.

Thank you everyone. Cruiser that’s good news – I shower plenty, so maybe I’m good.
