The Salvation Army has the largest network of Thrift Stores so that’s a good starting point.

But it’s unlikely theyre the only Thrift Stores in your area. Just Google it along with your zip code to find a list of them.

As far as regular retail stores, you’ll rarely find good (as in high quality) AND cheap both. You’ll have to pick one or the other.

If you wait a month or two, there will be quality online winter clothing stores having sales with prices drastically reduced because they don’t want to store all that inventory over the warmer months.

Check stores like L. L. BEAN, Lands End and REI online or if there’s one near you at the mall in a month or two.

If you need something immediately, go to a Thrift store to tide you over and then get a real good quality one for 50% (or more) off the full price in a month or two for next winter and many years to come.

This site TheThriftShopper has a list of thrift shops and reviews by actual users. Enter a city name or zip code and it will show you the location of charity based thrift shops in your area. It is great.

My first stop would be Good Will. You can often find top name brands for pennies on the dollar. You can try E-Bay too. I got a lot of killer designer shirts and sweaters for a great price there recently.

I also say thrift stores. I bought a good pair of basically new, waterproof, name-brand winter boots for $12.99 at Savers a few weeks ago. The MSRP for them was over $100.
@LuckyGuy That’s a pretty interesting website.

If you want retail, you might try Burlington Coat Factory.

@dxs That site makes it easy to find charity based thrift shops and has customer reviews. That helps a lot. Buying from a Thrift shop helps the charity, helps the people working there, reduces waste, keeps the money local – and saves dollars.
