Is there something you would never give up even if you were told it would eventually kill you?

Asked by ZEPHYRA (21750points) February 1st, 2015

If the medical profession told you to give up or die early, is there something you would never give up or would you give up there and then? For me it has to be sweet stuff, I would go on to a sweet death.

Do you know people who are so disciplined that they did as they did as they were told and never went astray?

Alcohol. If I suddenly acquired a disease that precluded me from imbibing, I would just stop drinking alcohol. Both my parents stopped drinking because it was literally killing my mother and it was ruining my father’s life. They were brilliantly disciplined about it.

The act of living will kill you eventually, but I wouldn’t give it up willingly. Also I’m in the midst of quitting cigarettes so I’ll let you know how that goes. Smoking and drinking might be what digs me an early grave.

I’d do it until I needed glasses.

Dogs and other humans. I would have trouble giving those up.

I read this wrong. NEVER give up? and it would kill me? Loving my son. That is about all that is non-negotiable in my life and about the only thing I have worthy of dying for.

Chocolate and ice cream. I could cut back and limit my intake, but never give it up completely for good.
