Are human beings like artwork?

Asked by dopeguru (1928points) March 14th, 2015

Some cheap, some put more effort into, some spent more time becoming who they are, some simplistic, authentic, minimalist, some are chaotic and vague… I don’t know. You get the point.

In this case if I think a man is completely amazing in all ways, should I work for him and pursue him? Or does whats meant to happen eventually happen with the people we want too. It seems we have control over our creative works, but what about people? We can work hard on a project spending days and nights on it, but is love the same way too?

Someone who seems absolutely perfect to my eyes in all ways lost interest in me without even meeting me. Its a complicated story but he said his goodbye. He is this perfect piece of artwork and I ruined the chance of meeting him. Bottom line question is are humans comparable to artworks and if so, how do we get the one we want and how do we become the one we want?

I have met people who I would consider to be a “piece of work” but I have never met anyone who I would consider to be a work of art. if you are looking for a special someone for romance or companionship consider going to libraries, art galleries or museums etc… you might be able to find the guy that you are looking for in a night club or a bar but in my opinion these places are better for hook ups and are not conducive to finding a meaningful long term relationship.be yourself, don’t try to be what you think someone else wants you to be.

You can become any piece of artwork you want to make yourself but you cannot create any artwork out of someone else. I don’t think your analogy is very helpful and we keep trying to tell you the same message. If you haven’t met the guy yet, why decide he’s perfect? You are over investing in “art” they may have no value. Lighten up and work on creating yourself first.

The romantic comedy movies portray this type of situation more often than not: boy meets girl, likes her, she hates him, he spends most of the movie pursuing her, she finally realizes he is perfect for her and it all ends happily ever after.
This does not happen in real life. In real life the pursuing is considered stalking and you can go to jail for it.

As much as a drunk and stoned 3 year old’s scribblings can be considered art.

A bit of wisdom from Elaine in the old Seinfeld series.

A woman is a work of art. A man is more utilitarian, like a Jeep.

Perceptions vary, but i wouldn’t say so, we are living breathing human beings and we are not there for show though we do have people judging us at first glance, i would say that we are more like stories in a book that with every word breathes life and forms a picture. We cannot assume someone is perfect without meeting them…like i said it’s like falling in love with the cover of a book without seeing the contents.
