Am I immune to hickeys (maybe NSFW)?

Asked by rory (1407points) March 21st, 2015

I’ll preface this with saying I know that this is a stupid question. But hey, I’m curious.

I’m 20 years old, and it seems like I can no longer get hickeys on my neck. I used to bruise there a ton, but also prior to the past six months had never been in a situation where I consistently got hickeys. A couple months ago though I noticed that although my partner would do the same things (sucking on my neck etc.) I no longer bruise there at all. The most I get is a few red dots for like a day.

I’m not necessarily complaining—they’re a pain to cover, but I’m just curious if skin that’s been bruised a lot can develop a sort of immunity? Like it’s not just a particular spot, it’s my whole neck. And I can get hickeys elsewhere on my body.

Who knows? But considering visible hickies are unattractive and trashy, I’d consider myself lucky.

Bruising is sometimes related to deficiencies in Vitamin K, usually found in dark leafy greens. Are you eating healthier these days?

Bruising will be more prominent in the neck because of the thinner skin. But have you noticed any degree of bruising elsewhere?

Maybe you exceeded your LHA?

Maybe you’re body toughened up in that area and got conditioned to it.

I remember years ago when I played football I use to get bruises on my arms often, eventually I hardly had any or they were not as noticeable.

You’re like a woman friend that I use to have. She asked me to give her a hickey but no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t make it happen. She could very easily give ma a big hickey though. Perhaps she just had tough neck shin.

@fluthernutter, what do you mean by degree? I bruise relatively easily elsewhere, and lately have been getting random bruises that I don’t know the cause of.

And I haven’t really changed my diet much lately—I’ve always eaten a lot of salads.

I wouldn’t worry about it. I think of hickies as something a teenager might have and I agree with @livelaughlove21 that they are unattractive and trashy. They’re an advertisement that you’ve been fucked, and I don’t think that’s something to advertise.
