Examples of Young Adult mystery versus thriller novel?

Asked by Cloud9 (13points) May 18th, 2015

I’m trying to write a paper analyzing two Young Adult novels to show the differences between a general mystery novel and a thriller. I need help choosing the books. I would rather not use Nancy Drew. I’m thinking maybe Lois Duncan’s I Know What You Did Last Summer for the thriller. Any thoughts about what teen novel would be a really good example of mystery?

This one isn’t a real young adult mystery, but I liked Mystic River, by Dennis Lehane. And welcome to fluther.

How about The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley?

Those are both good mystery books, but it really does have to be a young adult novel. I may be able to get away with The Sweetness as a crossover novel.

I love Goodreads. Why not take a look at their YA section?

Here’s a good list from a public library of some young adult mysteries. One of them should suit your purpose.
