Oooh…cream cheese and salsa, maybe a mango salsa, a bean dip with sour cream and guacamole or french onion dip. Oh my…I have to go get some chips and slasa now. haha

I make a ranch dip like this: Find a packet of ranch dressing mix, but only use ½ of it to the regular amount of sour cream. Add a smidge of chili powder for your Doritos.

Hot cream cheese and crab meat.

I dip the Doritos in the trash, get authentic corn tortilla chips, and dip them into a home made guacamole.

Steamed cheese and balsa wood.

Nothing. They are tortilla chips already coated in dip.

I’m one of the non-dippers when it comes to Doritos too. They’re already flavored and don’t need anything else.

Guacamole.

The “best” is strictly a matter of personal, er, taste, but when I was more of a snacker than I am now I liked them slathered with guacamole, bean dip, and anything else on the buffet table. As for the type of Doritos I like best, I prefer the pure corn taste more than the newer flavors. But what I like the most is any chip that holds the biggest most possible amount of dip at one time. Big Scoop Frito’s are my favorite.

I’m currently addicted to the Doritos Jacked 3-D. I buy the snack sized bags as a portion control. Normally I like my Doritos with small curd cottage cheese, but that’s not practical with the 3-D.
They have a rolled, chili-lime version that just screams for cottage cheese, but it’s best to crunch the chips up and mix them into the cottage cheese. Fiery crunch meet creamy smoothness.

@Pachy We’re kindred chip spirits. haha
I like plain tortilla chips too but Frito Scoops are the best.

Oh, I forgot another dip. I love the trader joes sweet chili sauce over cottage cheese as a chip dip too.

Nacho Cheese Doritos in cream cheese is the bomb.

Hamburger sour cream and guacamole and diced tomatoes and jalapeƱos.

Sounds like an amazing combination, @rockfan!

Yup, @johnpowell. The dip flavor might be on the chip, but adding a little cool creaminess adds the dip to the chip!
As mentioned above, sour cream, (refried) beans, avocado and diced tomatoes are all relatively bland ingredients that can add dip to simple Dorito chips. Hummus. Canned baba ganoush.

@ibstubro Doritos with cottage cheese sounds wonderful. I’d never thought about trying that.

It is, @Kardamom. Any strongly flavored chip is great with cottage cheese as a dip. Rosemary and olive oil Triscuits with cottage cheese are another personal favorite.

Another trick is to put a spoon of cottage cheese on top of a bowl of chili. Dip in and get a bit of the cool-creamy cottage cheese and some of the hot-spicy soup.

I also like to open a carton of cottage cheese and sprinkle the top with dried minced onions, salt, pepper and a bit of MSG. Next day, stir it up and you have a delicious side dish, or a great dip for regular chips.
