Mail question?

Asked by bestbroseph (335points) June 22nd, 2015

So I live in the border of two towns. I ordered something from eBay. I put my correct house number and street name, but put the wrong town and zip code. I did this on accident as I spend most of my tone in one of the towns, but my house is address is for the other town. Will I get my package?

Well I tracked the package, and it looks as though it tried to be sent, but was sent to a main processing center, and reshipped. Hopefully to me and not back to the seller

The post office has a lot of experience figuring out bad addresses.

Hopefully they can decipher yours.

Not likely to get delivered.
The correct zip is all important. If the street address and town were correct and the zip wrong, I’d give odds about 50–50. With both the town and zip not matching, I think the odds are about…er…zip.
@jaytkay has a practical suggestion that probably won’t make a difference in the outcome – likely a return to sender and re-ship with additional fee.

It will most likely get to you.

I would call the post office and see if they can fix the city and zipcode for you.

My husband is a mail carrier and says zip codes matter most. It will get sent to the zip code and the carrier will see the mistake and it’ll get sent back. He said it’s unlikely to be delivered.

UPDATE: It got returned, but the seller said for two dollars, he’ll reship it
