Does anyone else here get sleepy very easily when they read or watch television or a computer ?

Asked by chinchin31 (1874points) June 23rd, 2015

I have been struggling with this for as long as I know myself.

Even if the subject matter is interesting, it happens.

As a result of this I struggle alot with studying, watching tv or when I work in an office I have to take more breaks than the average person.

Could it be that some people are just designed to be very mobile instead of sitting in one place ?

No. I don’t have bad eyesight. It is perfect.

No i am not lacking in sleep either.

My IQ is above average.

Does this happen with anyone else ?

No. It is the opposite for me. Reading a textbook makes me sleepy.

When I watch TV. I’m pretty sure I’m a little narcoleptic. It might be as simple as you don’t get enough sleep, and when you finally sit still you get tired.

Well I am an introverted personality so maybe that has something to do with it. I read that introverts are hyper-sensitive to external stimuli compared to extroverts

Yes. Happens to me all the time. I think it is because I’m active all day.. so when my body gets a chance to relax it goes all out.

The exat same thing happens to me while reading. Even if I’m so interested in what I’m reading, my eyelids slowly start to cover my eyes. I even get tired sometimes while on the computer but not to the extent that I do with books.

Not anymore. I have insomnia pretty much every night for the last year or so.

When I was young, I couldn’t stay awake.

There are lots of reasons why you might be tired all the time and fall asleep easily. Here is quite a nice article outlining some of the reasons. Do any look likely? Start by addressing those and see if that helps.
