Aren't the humanity haters getting their wish with Global Warming?

Asked by josie (30934points) June 29th, 2015

Often enough , the people who raise the hue and cry over Global Warming are the same ones that think human beings are a blight on the Earth and by all measure should be extinct or at least suffer for their exploitive sins.

But the reason that those people worry about Global Warming is that it might make humanity become extinct or at least suffer.

Which is what they want any way.

Isn’t Global Warming, therefore, the solution, and not the problem?

Global warming is obsolete. It is global climate change now.

@josie – your mixing up your activist groups. They’re not monolithic at all. The climate people are not necessarily the population people, and they aren’t necessarily the anti-GMO people. It’s wrong to think that just because someone is concerned about ‘A” they are automatically concerned about B C and D.

@elbanditoroso

Do you mean the two groups never overlap. I think they do sometimes.

But if not, My bad
There is so much of it, sometimes it’s tough to tell exactly which direction this bitching or that is coming from.

Mmm. I do love me some good pot-stirring.
Such a shame to burn the stew. Especially if cute animals have surrendered their lives for the stew.

Nobody enjoys being too warm. I don’t think anybody takes pleasure in their enemies sweltering in “the heat they created”... mainly because it means the righteous will also be discomfited.
“You have to suffer to prove your point.” I think is copyrighted by my Jewish friends,

I just earned a shit-ton of hatemail. Hold my hand, Josie!

Yes, I think humanity is a cancer on the Earth, and that we would kill it, given the opportunity.

We don’t have that opportunity. We can live with the Earth, or it’ll go on without us.

My bet is without. Maybe something of our self-awareness will carry over to the next dominant specious and start a new enlightenment.

Yes, but but that’s extreme and would wipe out all the good people too. I don’t want humans to die off – I just want them to stop killing off the other species and damaging the planet, and for extra credit they can stop being stupidly horrible to each other too.

Humans need to stop destroying everything for the sake of their stupid imaginary power and wealth games, and learn to live sustainably, which means having healthy ecosystems that include as many others species as possible being healthy. If they don’t, they’re going to suffer and possibly completely die off, and deserve it, but I don’t desire that at all.

”...ones that think human beings are a blight on the Earth and by all measure should be extinct or at least suffer for their exploitive sins.”

I have tried talking to people like this. In my opinion, they’re not entirely sane. What was that question you asked about sociopaths? It actually applies in this case.

Actually, global warming is climate change and “humanity haters” are more accurately realists, IMHO. They see things realistically, unlike some others who seem to see the future through rose-colored glasses.

dappled_leaves's avatar

@kritiper Obviously, not everyone who accepts that climate change is real believes that humans are a blight on the planet. Though, certainly the reverse is true.

@dappled_leaves My father was born in 1928. In 1930, the Earth’s population was about 2 billion. When he died at age 78, the Earth’s population was in excess of 7 billion. So let us assume that the Earth’s population triples every 75 years, and if it continues to do so, would exceed 63 billion in 150 years. Where would it be 150 years after that??? The Earth at this time can only truly harbor 500 million people, according to some experts who claim to know. If man is not a blight on this planet yet, he sure as hell will be pretty damn soon! Time to remove your rose colored specs!

dappled_leaves's avatar

@kritiper We are not talking about the same thing. I am talking about those who literally believe that humanity should disappear from Earth, for the betterment of other species. That is not a rational belief for any human to hold.

I actually hate winter and love these 100 degree days. If we are going to cut most of the trees down why not give the ones that are left a little more co2 to eat anyway.

ARE_you_kidding_me's avatar

We’ll be here for a long time in some form. Humans are hard to kill, we will adapt but it is time to start paying attention to things and engineering a future we can all live with. For all of you haters and “humans are cancer“crowd….well, fuck you!

kritiper's avatar

@dappled_leaves Maybe not rational, but it is the practical solution. Humanity is a infestation, like bacteria. Germs. Maggots.
And I question your use of the word “rational.” A crazy person would say exactly the same thing thinking that he/she was the rational one. So, depending on who is considering or is being considered, “rational” is moot.

@ARE_you_kidding_me See you at the world-wide superbug die-in! EVERYONE will be there!

ibstubro's avatar

What’s adaptability unchecked, @ARE_you_kidding_me? Cancer.

I believe humans are currently destroying the Earth without regard for the health of the host. Is spontaneous remission a possibility? Absolutely. Is it a longshot for the human race/Earth at this stage of the game? Absolutely.
I think we’re on the cusp.

dappled_leaves's avatar

@kritiper I guess we found another one.
