Is anyone familiar with Windows Live Movie Maker?

Asked by Dutchess_III (46804points) July 19th, 2015

I made a short video. However, I can’t figure out how to view it full screen so all I see is the video. It always opens it up to Movie Maker, with all of the editing options.

I’ve tried opening it in Windows Media Center, but it won’t recognize it.

Can someone direct me, please?

Thanks

I found this, which explains why it will only open in Movie Maker Format.

I tried to save it to .wmv file (by putting the extention at the end of the name because it isn’t allowing me to change the “save as type” option)...but then it just wants to open in Windows media viewer…

I’m not sure if this is what you mean or not. But…if you go to the “save” options there is one that says “computer”. I use that one and it saves it correctly and I can play it full screen or whatever. I can upload it to Facebook or Youtube in that format. It appears to be Quicktime with the an .mov file.

I bet that’s it. Just before I read your answer I had just clicked on DVD, and noticed that it changed the extension to WMV…and…it is loaded and playing like it should. But the resolution is horrible! But…it’s a movie! Sort of.

Thanks @anniereborn. Sometimes I post these questions and end up talking to myself until I figure it out!

I had to do some editing (of a GotoMeeting video) a couple of years ago and I used MovieMaker. Quite a learning curve, for not a lot of features. I mostly used it for titles and subtitles.

I sort of remember what @anniereborn said – by default it saves to an internal format, and if you want to play the video anywhere else, you have to save it into MOV or something else. For my purposes, MOV was too large, so I ended up having to do another conversion to an AVI file (This was a series of 5–6 webcasts).

If you still need help, post something, I can probably dig out my notes.

I think I got it, but I’ll sure save this for future needs! Thanks @elbanditoroso and @anniereborn.

…Now…trying to add music. Damnit! I’ve done this before, burning songs to a itunes format. Just can’t remember how I did it!....

Well, I got the music added. I’m really not even sure how, but I did.

I HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION BUT I’M ALL OUT OF QUESTIONS!!

I added circus music to it. However, when I tried to load it to Facebook I got clocked for using the music.
Where can I find circus music that isn’t illegal to use?

anniereborn's avatar

I’ve never used this site, but “Elephant Juggler” sounds circussy. Everything on the site is public domain.

Oh nevermind that is waaay expensive.

Thanks anyway. Sniff. I posted it, sans music, but it is SO much funnier with the music!
