Is it OK to just drink milk and water?

No tea or coffee. No pop or alcohol. No fruit juice or Kool-aid.

Sure. As a matter of fact it would be perfectly healthy to just drink water.

All the other things listed have historically not necessarily been part of a healthy diet. And even today there are primitive societies who don’t have access to things like soda pop, coffee and some of the others on the list.

The other items provide variety but not anything essential to life.

Skip the milk. It is loaded with sugar. Get your protein other ways.

Just drink water. Coffee and tea are fine, but don’t sweeten them.

Are you also eating food? You can drink just water if you’re eating healthy food. I’m negative about milk, even though I use it in cereal.

Yep, that’s fine. Like others have said, there’s some bad stuff about milk. If you’re trying to be healthy, another option you have is green tea. It’s actually very, very good for you.

Don’t go overboard about anti-dairy.
Women need calcium.
I trust milk, etc. more than an under regulated industry such as vitamin supplements.
Just water?
How sterile. What are you hoping to achieve?
Moderation in all things
Deprivation just makes one unhappy
and really, really grouchy…

@JLeslie I eat raw broccoli and califlower with dip. Beef bones cooked in the over every day. Pouched eggs on toast . KFC or pizza when I don’t want to go outside. I also have seasonal fruit. Right now it is nectarines.

Also I make spaghetti every two days. In order to save money.

You know, I can’t find any really good info on how much calcium a man’s body needs. It varies a great deal in different sources! How interesting….
Don’t knock dairy out talljasperman! Balance all food groups.
I just happened to see your other question/post with folks advising different ways to feel better. I think what you are doing is great. Working on a better self- in all areas. A good place to live. Perfect for ‘centering’ yourself. Great ideas on what you want – to get back to an area you love. You’re doing better than you feel sometimes. I’m right at that stage with you. Keep up the positive- and drink your milk ;) Take good care…

Milk has calcium, but the properties of mild inhibit absorbing the calcium. Veggies that contain calcium often help aid absorption, so in the end the absorption might be equal and the veggies have other vital nutrients, less fat, and no cholesterol. Plus, calcium is a bad thing in too much quantity, you need vitamin D and K to absorb it into the bone well. Although, everything in moderation is ok by me.

@talljasperman Sounds like a semi-healthy diet. At least you’re getting some veggies and fruit. It’s probably a little heavy on fats and cholesterol. Have you had your cholesterol and other cardiac markers tested? That’s what I would look at. I eat cholesterol and my cholesterol is high. Other people eat triple the cholesterol I do and theirs is normal. You need to know what your body does.

I would say definitely have your vitamin D tested too. I can’t imagine anyone where you live has enough D in their body, unless they tan all summer long, eat a significant amount of D (that would be a special diet) and maybe they have enough storage to get them through most of the winter. I bet that would be one in 50 people.

Given the choice between milk and kool-aid/soda, I’d say milk is the better option.

Water is never a bad choice, unless you drink gallons of it per day.
