Do any of you know what this sweet is?

In 2000 or 2001, when I was four or five, respectively, when I lived in England, I was playing with a purple sweet that looked like a bora bean which excreted a purple and I think sticky liquid (I assume it was a sweet because of this, and the fact I think it is sticky).

I can’t remember where I got it from, but it was from inside the house, and I think I might remember getting it from the kitchen counter, but I am not sure. Anyways, when I squeezed the bean it stained the carpet, and shortly afterwards my father came by and spanked me. I went away crying, and he apologized afterwards, but I did not want to see him.

The carpet was permanently stained. In retrospect I deserved it, but I’ve wondered about what the sweet was for years.

Please, can you tell me what it was?
