Shoe laces haven't gone out of style yet. Why is this?

Asked by rockfan (14627points) September 6th, 2015

Not only are they really ugly looking, but they’re also inconvenient. Why are they still around? You would think they would have been outdated by now, just like how pennies, aerosol sprays, personalized checks, and landlines are. Oh wait…

Because they are still the cheapest best way to keep your runners on, but they do have velcro straps, and elastic ,plus zippers on some shoes and boots but give me just good ole laces any day.

They are easy to replace.

If a shoelace rips off, get a new one.
Break a zipper, and you need to buy a new shoe.
Gunk up your velcro, the same.

They’re still very useful and very efficient for adjusting tension over the top of the foot. There are some things that will probably be with us forever and deserve to be—like bread.
