Probably (NSFW) What causes the changes in viscosity of poop?

Asked by rojo (24179points) September 16th, 2015

Sometimes it is as dry as a Chilean mummy with Chagas, while other times it slides through like a Telfon coated turd and yet there are other times when it is so tenacious it could be used to hold the tiles in place on the Space Shuttle during re-entry.
What causes these varying degrees of tackiness? Why does it change so frequently? Is it amount or type of food consumed? Does it make a difference if you are a vegetarian instead of omnivorous? Does it have to do with hydration? Is it the amount of liquid drank? Does the type of liquid make a difference? Is it more to do with intestinal flora and fauna and the lack or changes thereof?
Bonus question: Why has the toilet paper industry not made use of the differences to convince us we need several different kinds of paper on hand (so to speak)?

All of those things. Hydration, diet, and health of your biome. Eat nothing but meat and eggs for a day or two, things will not move well. Eat a good portion of kale at every meal for two days, you’ll be scared to fart without a change of underwear nearby. Go on a round of antibiotics and you’ll feel plugged up until you get some yogurt or other probiotics in you.

The TP is designed to handle the messiest, so it isn’t like they need to get people to have multiple rollers in their bathrooms. For the driest extremes, they would suggest wet wipes anyway.

@zenvelo You are and you poop what you eat.

Hydration, as @zenvelo said, is a big part. Related to that is fiber (roughage).

Greens and beans, my man, greens and beans.

A nice taco salad and a margarita will often re-define “shit-storm” for me the following day.

Fiber, the amount of fat in your diet and how much you drink.

Too much fat and the liver produces bile. Bile makes diarrhea.

Oh. My. God! I shall fall asleep tonight pondering this. I will be eternally wondering why it isn’t in General. This is some serious shit, man.

@rojo For those familiar with shotguns, maybe it’s the bore and choke of your ass.

Well, @Adirondackwannabe I am pretty sure it is not rifled.

But even so, that would not explain the different rounds that are expelled from the orifice; we are talking 12 ga slugs, 50 cal. and 00 buckshot from the same barrel..

LMAO. That’s quite the orifice you’ve got there.

Pictures or it didn’t happen.
