Why did a different avatar show up for me when I answered a question?

Asked by rojo (24179points) September 24th, 2015

I answered a question and when I looked down there was an odd icon where mine usually is. It was one of the standards (the blue one with the goldfish?). Down below, awaiting another response, was my standard (but oh so stylish) avatar.
Glitch in the system? Crossover? Demonic possession?
Not terrified, yet, just wondering.

That’s what happens to Jellies who haven’t taken the Meyers-Briggs test.

Aliens from outer space.

Coloma's avatar

The ghost of rojos past?

Cruiser's avatar

No @janbb That is what happens to Jellies that take the (ARSE) test! ;)

Har, Har,

Coz Fluther’s jibber is well & truly jabbered.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Because [REDACTED] and that is why. It is very dangerous, too.

Earthbound_Misfit's avatar

My first thought was that it relates to you admitting you haven’t done the Myers-Briggs test. @janbb beat me to it.

rojo's avatar

If I had taken the test I could probably figure out what is going on.

But, because I have taken the ARSE test and scored above average y’all can all bite me and I will wait for a Mod to come to my rescue.

Yep, you got bumped back to newbie status for not belonging to the elite group of INTJs. Sorry.

Can you send us a link to the thread in question, please?

longgone's avatar

@Cruiser Oh, thanks. Apparently, I am an INFP. Interesting.

janbb's avatar

ENFJ – can I tape it to my forehead now?

rojo's avatar

@longgone when I backtracked the question had my old avatar.

Well, looks like today I am an INTP (although they were quick to point out that it was Moderate, Slight, Slight, Slight for the four categories so I guess it was borderline).

Coloma's avatar

Aaaah….being an ENTP I have, virtually, no intuitive types in my life to bounce around stuff with. Interesting that there are so many INTPs, and other intuitives here. NT’s and other intuitives make up a lesser segment of the population than sensor/judger types.
No wonder @longgone and I wrote several novels yesterday in an animal discussion. Us intuitives, we love love to ramble on into infinity about things that interest us and since our brains love concepts & theories and make lots of associations effortlessly, it stands to reason why many of us can ramble on into infinity and beyond. lol

Dutchess_III's avatar

So, taking the once @Cruiser linked to. Right out of the gate it isn’t worded very well.

You are almost never late for your appointments.
Would that be
Yes, I am almost never late for my appointments or
No I am almost never late for my appointments

rojo's avatar

@Dutchess_III I have to smile at that! I had to use the same mental gymnastics to have it make sense to me and even then either answer could be correct.

Maybe this is how they separate the Introverts from the Extroverts?

Dutchess_III's avatar

I JUST DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!! I’m so scared of getting it wrong…wait..no, I’m not. Here goes nothin!

Coloma's avatar

@Dutchess_III Sooo, when did you develop Progeria and Alopecia? LMAO!

Dutchess_III's avatar

Oh, yesterday, @Coloma, although I really don’t have room for an Alopecia. I have no stable, no hay, no nothing. I do have a decent sized back yard though.

Here I am:

ENTJ
Extravert(1%) iNtuitive(44%) Thinking(25%) Judging(44%)

You have marginal or no preference of Extraversion over Introversion (1%)
You have moderate preference of Intuition over Sensing (44%)
You have moderate preference of Thinking over Feeling (25%)
You have moderate preference of Judging over Perceiving (44%)

janbb's avatar

^^ Alopecia is not a type of horse. lol

rojo's avatar

Sure it is! It is an ancient line of horses, first thought to have been bred to pull chariots on the coast of ancient Mesopotamia in the town of Alopeis. It is a strong, well built hunk of a horse that has a reddish brown coat with faint undertones of taupe, a subtle irregular black banded pattern on the forequarters, medium length mane, traditionally styled in what is referred to as the Mediterranean Mohawk and a tail of two cities complementary colors.
They are fairly rare, mainly due to their abrasive temperment and fondness for Kiwis.

Dutchess_III's avatar

It is not! It’s a type of camel you guys. From the ancient times of aleopecca.

longgone's avatar

@rojo Looks like the Gods of Fluther are appeased. Have you sacrificed any mackarels lately?

@Coloma “Us intuitives, we love love to ramble on into infinity.”

Beg your pardon? I do not ramble, I have never been known to “ramble” or even present my thoughts and feelings and ideas in anything but an orderly (not to mention timely) fashion. On the contrary – my succinct, elegant, seemingly effortless and yet meaningful texts – yes, I think they are deserving of being members of the label of “prose”, if I may say so myself, are very highly and exquisitely in praise by a wide and diverse array of people, admirers, fans and former critics – the latterest of which does not in its opposite exist as to criticise my writings is akin to criticizing the writings of a true writer. So there.

janbb's avatar

^^ And that is not her native tongue! What a girl!

Coloma's avatar

@longgone Whoa..where did ALL of that come from in relation to my humorous musings?!
I use the term “ramble” to mean making a lot of associations, and having a fast firing brain that can easily keep up, in the moment, with a fast paced dialogue. I too am quite easily understood, and well written.
Wow…guess you told me, though your train certainly jumped the track on this one and exploded into a fireball of ill perceived personal insult.

Glad to see though that you think so highly of yourself, good self esteem is important, however, your uber defensiveness over such a silly little thing kinda cancels that out.
Ya know, before one jumps to conclusions it is usually a good idea to ask, exactly, what another meant before splattering like a bucket of paint on the wall.
By all means, fire off an elegant and well written rebuttal of prose to me for calling you out on your preposterous presumptions. Pffft!

janbb's avatar

@Coloma She was just having fun with a self-parody not insulting you. Maybe not quite as intuitive as you think.

longgone's avatar

@Coloma Yes, I was just playing. I freely admit that I will write novels when engaged enough.

@janbb Thank you. It’s freeing to abandon the goal of writing clearly, especially in a language that is not your own.

Coloma's avatar

@longgone, well…obviously hard to tell, sarcasm on the internet is often hard to discern. Thank you for clarifying and you may ignore my snarky reply. Mea Culpa.

@janbb Being an intuitive in personalty theory has nothing to do with being psychic. It has to do with cognitive functions and preferring theoretical and abstract thinking as well as ability to seek out patterns and make disparate connections that may evade others.
When one does not use a wink or a tilde or other indication of sarcasm, well….easy to misconstrue.
Looks like you misconstrued the true meaning of intuitive in personality theory as well so, perhaps you have learned something as well about the duel nature of the word intuitive when it comes to use in personality theory.

Hell..a whole bunch of misconceptions and misperceptions showing up it appears. haha

janbb's avatar

I agree with you, being intuitive has nothing to do with being psychic. Thanks for the elucidation.

longgone's avatar

@Coloma No worries, consider it ignored!

Buttonstc's avatar

@Coloma

However, if one is looking for a duel, nothing like a parting of the ways on the meaning of “intuitive” to kick one off, eh?
