What do you think my dream means?

Asked by marinelife (62485points) October 15th, 2015

I had a very vivid and unusual dream. I was meeting at a hotel with a client and a group of people when I had to go to the bathroom, which was just down the hall.

The bathroom had the outer door to the hallway, and then the inner door to a long room with a sink and one toilet (no stall) at the very end of the room.

I was sitting on the can just about to tinkle when an attendant wheeled in an elderly woman wearing a mink coat and hat in a wheelchair. Then, two very large (think Amazonian) women talking volubly in French just pushed past the lady in the wheelchair and came down the length of the room toward me.

Still talking, one of them came right up in my face. All of my rudimentary high school French fled from my mind and all I could think of to say was, “Excuse, excusez moi.” The woman ignored me and turned around and sat down on my lap on the toilet.

I was horrified and speechless. I looked at the other woman in appeal and she said something too rapid for me to follow. Then the one sitting on my lap stood up. I flushed the toilet and rushed out of the room without even washing my hands.

What do you think it means?

Anxiety

Are you possibly worried that something is going to happen to you that you can’t control? Like someone doing something against your will or a life change happening that is beyond your control?

I think that the key to the dream is the mink coat.

You have always wanted to be a furrier.

janbb's avatar

@marinelife Or have you just wanted to be furrier? (Kinky!)

You feel ignored, unimportant to others.

It was a weird one all right.

~ ~ ~ No more extra pepperoni on the pizza and don’t eat it an hour before going to bed. ~ ~ ~

I’d say within some part of your life, you are feeling ignored, overlooked and dismissed in some way in your life. Almost as if you (or your needs) are invisible and lack control over a situation. Of course, this interpretation could be hooey!

It means that you should send me $20.~ Or you should lay off the caffeine before bed. Edit I think you were astral traveling.

If this were my dream, it would mean that I ought to wake up and go to the bathroom.

Toilets and their respective qualities in dreams refer to the state of one’s ability to express emotions. I am spitballing here, but someone “sophisticated” and assertive tromped on your emotional expression and you were powerless to stop it. See dreammoods.com.

Pee dreams for me mean I have to pee.
Strange pee dreams mean I had cheese before bed. and need to pee.

~ bAnd the arrogant French women were just being arrogant French women. I’ll bet they were thin, too.

@LuckyGuy Maybe @marinelife had fromage and wine before going to bed?

I’m with @Jeruba and @LuckyGuy. For me, all pee dreams of any kind mean I desperately need to pee.

Whenever I have a weird bathroom dream it’s usually one of these scenarios: there is no toilet, or the toilet doesn’t work, or the toilet is in a public place, or the bathroom floor is wet and filthy. Then I wake up in a panic and realize that I have to tinkle.

Jeruba's avatar

So . . . @marinelife . . . when you woke up, did you have to . . . ? Just asking.

marinelife's avatar

@Jeruba I usually do!

However, I think what resonated most strongly for me was something that I read on Dream Moods, which though a wacky concept, I have found fairly accurate.

“To dream that you are in a public restroom with no stalls or that there are a lot of people around while you are trying to do your business signifies that you are having difficulties letting go of old emotions. You are afraid that if you reveal these feelings, then others around you will judge and criticize you.”

Well, okay, I can see looking for something deeper than the obvious. I happen to be a big believer in what we can learn from our own dreams, while also believing that the owner of the dream is the only one who can actually interpret it.

But It seems to me that you could write this statement: “To dream ___ signifies that you are having difficulties letting go of old emotions. You are afraid that if you reveal these feelings, then others around you will judge and criticize you.” and fill in the blank with almost anything, and it would ring true for a lot of us. I think what we need is more like greater awareness of the unhealthy things we cling to and less like pondering possible dream symbolism. Sometimes having to pee is just having to pee.

I have been in therapy for 30 years, and all my therapists love it when I tell them about bathroom dreams. Simply put, it’s about our most basic fears or anxiety. Only you know what you may be anxious about.

When I have vivid dreams, it allows me to step back and ponder events in my waking life. I spend a lot of time working through the various situations that come up and my reactions. I pay particular attention to how things feel in my body. If something rumbles in my stomach, I know I’ve caught it early. As something ages, it works its way up in my body, and when it reaches my head, I know I’ve let it fester too long.

Sleep well.

Taking a stab at interpeting your dream.
1. pee….symbolic in the saying ” piss on it”
2. In the open so stall…means…you feel that you have no privacy.
3. Amazon women ignoring you…..Women that are powerfull ,rich and beautiful ignore you..refers to how you may feel about your own status compared to them.
4.The fact that they spoke a different language…means that you don’t or they don’t understand you.and that they are cut from a different cloth.
5.The elderly rich woman may indicate your fears that it is in old age that you will finally be rich but not healthy enough to enjoy it.
6.The woman pissing on you is how you feel that rich powerful women treat you as if they actually were.
7. The woman ignored you…that these types are out of reach to your level so that they do not hear you.( upper cast of rich society)
8. You ran out without washing your hands…could mean that you are not able to “wash ” your hands of this type of people, but you wish to be able to walk away from it.
Perhaps a different career choice needed?

Just adding my two cents worth to alleviate the problem.
A bit more than negativity was required.
