Is this supposed to happen?

Asked by thuyle21 (66points) October 26th, 2015

I just bought a protein shakes called Scandishakes to help me gain weight. Today I drink it twice and I have been going to the bathroom a lot. Does drinking a lot of protein do that to you?

I saw “shakes” and reference to frequent bathroom visits, and my first thought was lactose intolerance. But given that each 8-ounce shake has an extra 20 grams of fat per serving to push the calorie count from ~150 to 600, it’s possible that you’re just getting more fat than you can handle and literally blowing the excess out your ass.

FYI, an 8-ounce Scandishake has same protein content as 12 ounces of plain whole milk. If it’s protein you’re after, three glasses of milk will give as much as two of those shakes.

Have you talked to a doctor or pharmacist about your goals?

If you are going by advertised//hyped product promotion, you will be disappointed.

Weight gain is as difficult as weight loss. You should have a complete blood panel and see where your metabolism is. There are better solutions than protein shakes.

You shouldn’t buy anything from a GNC. The crap hasn’t even been thoroughly tested for Pete’s sake. My sister used hydroxi-cut until it caused internal bleeding. Just eat right and go to the gym. The rest of that crap is for suckers.
