What is wrong with Yahoo?

Asked by blueberry_kid (5957points) November 3rd, 2015

I’m just here to complain for a minute.

Yahoo is a piece of shit. On my phone it works perfectly fine, but it’s an iPhone so its my email through the Apple mail app, so not truly Yahoo mail, and I can’t do absolutely everything on my phone.

The desktop is missing a lot of important emails I need, and is really slow and making me unproductive. It’s college application season and I need my email more than anything right now, and when it doesn’t function it just slows down everything. It’s not my browser or my internet, because everything else that I do works perfectly fine.

What is Yahoo doing that is making it not do shit correctly anymore?

Management.

They screwed up royally with bad technology decisions about 5–6 years ago, and the current CEO is much more about selling ads than about providing service.

Yahoo as a company is on the way down. It may take a few years, but they are bad news and getting worse.

If I were you, I would seriously think about changing email providers, because it isn’t going to get any better.

I have had a yahoo mail account for fifteen years that I use as an alternative so my main mailbox doesn’t get spammed. Yahoo mail has never really worked all that well.

I have e had a gmail account since 2004, never a problem with it and plenty of room and good spam filters.

Change your email to gmail.

I use Yahoo mail (as well as Gmail), and it’s working just fine in both IE and Chrome. No problems whatsoever, no missing emails. Also works fine in the Apple mail app on my iPad.

I use Yahoo with Firefox and have no problems. I use a laptop.

Sorry, haven’t used Yahoo willingly since, oh, before Y2K. It’s always been shit.

I have Yahoo as my homepage. The one thing I use it for is the bookmarks. I have not found a better bookmark setup anywhere. I used to use the calendar, but then Yahoo stopped sending out the email reminders that I created.

I had that problem too for a short while.
Apparently cookies track our prefrences and display ads to cater to our interests.
I found yahoo slow because of that , but on the upper right corner of the ad is a preference key to eliminate those ads.
yahoo says that we have to accept some ads but we can decide which ones.
