Why does Yahoo keep hijacking my stuff?

Asked by Dutchess_III (46811points) November 9th, 2015

My home page is set to Google. However, when I go to look something up it brings it up in Yahoo, and Yahoo’s search engine sucks. How do I make it stop?

Which browser are you using?

Did you recently update or get a new app for your computer ? ? ? Sounds like malware or “bloatware” added to your computer.

It sounds like @Dutchess_III is using Firefox. Firefox and Yahoo have an incestuous relationship… one of the recent versions of Firefox did change (without my permission) the default search.

Shit. What do you guys use? I don’t like Chrome and I don’t like IE.

I switched from Firefox to Chrome years ago because Firefox kept adding useless tools to my navigation bar, to the point it was crowding my display. I have had no problems with Chrome ever since.

@Dutchess_III, what don’t you like about Chrome?

I don’t know. I’ll give it another go, though.

I use Firefox version 42.0.0.5780.

When I set my home page to Google and enter something in the Google search box, it uses Google.
