Why is it news - why does anyone care whether Charlie Sheen has AIDS for not?

Asked by elbanditoroso (33146points) November 17th, 2015

He announced it on the Today show; he’s had it for 4 years and been blackmailed / extorted to the tune of $10 million.

Why does anyone care? What sort of human vultures exist that feast on this sort of thing?

Maybe all the people he paid to have sex with him without telling them he was HIV-positive?

He should not have had that tiger blood transfusion, then.

He doesn’t have AIDS. He is HIV Positive.

There is a huge difference. And people have lived many years with HIV and not infected others.

The “human vultures” are also known as National Enquirer and TMZ.

Not exactly what I would call “winning”, especially for anyone he had sex with over the past 4 or more years.

I heard he gave Rock Hudson a blow job back in the day, slippery slope man…slippery slope.

Considering that he’s probably had sex with half the pornstars in Los Angeles, and they’ve probably had sex with half the entertainment executives in Los Angeles, and those executives have probably had sex with half the population of Los Angeles…. yeah, I’d say there’s a reason for folks to care.

I don’t really care, except I’m disgusted if he has been having sex without telling the person.

I don’t think we know how he got it do we? My first reaction was wondering if it’s from needles or sex?

@zenvelo Although I agree there is a difference between being HIV positive and having AIDS, it’s still the virus that causes AIDS and a scary virus to have. It acts differently in every individual and usually means the person is going to have to do something to deal with it. I have heard that some gay men just feel it’s inevitable they will be positive. I hope that’s not true. I know my gay friends don’t feel it’s inevitable, but they are older (in their 40’s and older). The majority of my personal gay friends over 50 are HIV positive or they died already from it. Even if you don’t have full blown AIDS your immune system can be compromised and it puts the person at risk. It’s a pretty big deal.

Yeah, it’s still a pretty big deal, but it’s not necessarily the death sentence it once was. A cousin of mine’s been HIV positive for at least 20 years now, but he’s been on the antiretroviral meds for just about as long and is doing well.

It’s important that the “good” people get to point & say “see?”

I don’t know.
Why do people care about the Kardashians?
Can we just be thankful that they no longer seem to care about Roseanne Barr??

jca's avatar

I don’t understand why people spend so much time and attention on any celeb. Charlie Sheen is just one of them. Kardashians are another. It used to be Paris Hilton, It used to be Britney Spears.

Yesterday, it was all over the radio. Charlie Sheen, the prostitutes, the partying, now the shakedowns and millions he has spent to keep it quiet, while infecting others.
