General Question

Do you find that the quality of the toilet paper on a standard size roll deteriorates as the quantity of sheets per roll increases?

Talking about standard rolls, or rolls that comfortably fit in a traditional toilet paper dispenser and within your chosen brand, is the end product the same.

Say ‘Northmin’ offers standard, Big (1½ of standard), Large (2x standard), and Super (2x+ standard).

Are you getting the same tush-feel?

I have no preconceived answer to this question. It’s just been on my back burner.

I haven’t noticed. Are you assigning us another thing to which we should pay attention?

Not at all, @stanleybmanly.
If corncobs still work for you, I’m good.

I find that the higher the sheet count, the more it feels like tracing/crepe paper, with all the absorbency, abrasion, and potential poke-through that entails.

Yes! The larger the roll the thinner the sheets. I like my bath tissue soft and fluffy not tissue paper thin.

@ibstubro, I’m sure @stanleybmanly has upgraded to the Sears Roebuck catalog. lol

” It’s just been on my back burner.” double entendre?

I dunno, the big fluffy sheet seem to tear apart easier. There has to be a compromise between softness and tensile strength. I say go for the “Big”.

I always buy Scott and so far they haven’t decided to cheap out with an inferior product as is so the trend these days.

From first to last, it’s all good; doesn’t fall apart when wet, as so many others to.

My wife bought toilet paper that has more rolls and sheets, but the sheets are so thin that it is difficult to get one without tearing. After these rolls have been used up, we will not buy them again.

Quality TP is one of those small luxuries I refuse to skimp on at home. At work I have to put up with the industrial supply rolls where IMO the paper is better suited for polishing tarnished silverware. What has irked me the most is how much the width of the roll has shrunk. Just look at your toilet roll holder that 10 years ago a roll fit nicely on. Today there is over an inch of wiggle room. At this rate of reduction in 10 years a roll of TP will be as wide as masking tape.

I’ve noticed the with reduction on those ginormous roll tissue dispensers, @Cruiser.

Here’s my favorite brand, bonus, cute ducklings on the package, not that I’d wipe myself with a duckling of course, Marwyn would turn me in for fowl abuse. lol

In my adult life I never bought anything but Charmin. Until they split it 3 ways – basic, tough and soft. I never bought another roll.

The store brand from Sam’s Club is awesome and cheap. Huge rolls and I don’t notice it deteriorates the softness.

I’ll get the store brand from Costco, which has not gotten narrower over the years. When that’s not convenient, I’ll pick up something not too cheap but not too expensive from the grocery store. I usually look for a sale and am not loyal to any brand, as long as the product looks decent.

I try to be brand loyal, @jca, as there is some real crap out there.
