Asked by imrainmaker (8380points) January 9th, 2016

How long the government can keep him..or do you think he will be able to flee once more? Will he be handed over to USA anytime soon by Mexico?

The US Attorney in Chicago has indicted him. El Chapo’s people move huge amounts of drugs into the city.

If Mexico hands him over, they will gladly take him to trial.

Just more fascist government oppressing private enterprise.

I was preparing to ask a question along this line.

I’m truly impressed that the Mexican Marines were able to not only locate and capture Joaquín Guzmán Loera, the Mexican drug lord known as El Chapo, but to get him alive.

I think it’s a particularly important victory for Mexican law enforcement, coming just days after Gisela Mota Ocampo, newly sworn mayor of Timixco, was gunned down in her home.

A great victory for Mexican law enforcement that seems to either get hamstrung by corrupt politicians or get a bad rap. I seriously doubt he’ll have another chance to escape.

@ibstubro I was thinking kind of the opposite thing; that it was sad they had to depend on the Marines because the police have been so badly corrupted.

I just read an article saying that this time the plan to extradite him to the US.

Hell of an escape, anyway!

I think it doesn’t much matter which kingpin is toppled any more than it did when Capone was put away. What matters is just as prohibition put the mafia pn the national map, our war on drugs has converted Mexico from a failed corrupted vassal of American capitalism to a vicious narco state.
