What is the best time and day to publish your pictures on facebook?

Asked by cecilia09 (205points) January 31st, 2016

I was wondering what is the best time and day to post pics, to get more likes and so that your friend can notice the picture more on their timeline.

I post a fair number of pictures on Facebook, and while late afternoon/early evening gets more responses, the day of the week seems to be a low factor. I have put up pictures after a hike on a Saturday or a Sunday that have gotten tons of reaction, others very little.

It really has to do with subject matter. Selfies will only get a few likes, while pictures of one’s kids get a lot more, or pictures of your sweetie in nature will get a lot too.

What are you trying to achieve? More likes from who? When is your friend online? Unless we know where you are, what you want to achieve and most importantly, who your audience is, it’s impossible to answer this question.

3 am. Friday night.

This question is almost impossible to answer without knowing the target audience.

Think about television: Soap operas and diet fad talk shows are on during a certain time of day, because that is when the target audience has control of the TV remote, whereas blockbuster TV dramas are on in the late evening, when the whole family can watch together after dinner.

If I wanted to post so the maximum number of my friends would see it, I would post on a late Friday or Saturday night, unless it was a holiday weekend, because they would all be camping. The most consistent time for my friends to be available is about noon on weekdays.

I agree it depends on your audience. I guess you can just use trial and error to see what works best.

Personally, I can’t imagine waiting to post something to get more likes. Maybe if you want a discussion, but likes?

It used to be “all about the Benjamins.”

Nowadays it’s all about “the likes”

Some people view their feed by “most recent” and some view it by “top stories.” Since you have no way of knowing how people are viewing their feeds, you can’t manipulate results.

I asked “why do you care?” so I would know what you are trying to achieve, not to be snarky.
