Do you still use pencils or are you an ink person?

Asked by msh (4270points) February 2nd, 2016 from iPhone

With all of the devices, writing tools have had a change in demand. Other than for Artwork, do you ever use Pencils?
Pens- for documents or just signatures?
When you ‘jot something down’ – where is down and with what?

Moleskin and pen.

I can write way faster than I can peck on a screen. And my notebook doesn’t crash.

When paper is involved, I use ink. I never liked using pencils.

Try being a lefty. At least I can write claw-handed enough to allow the ink to dry. When I use a pencil it looks like Ron Jeremy had another countdown. (Seriously… Don’t google that)

Ink, I could never stand pencils.

I use 0.5 mm mini-mechanical pencils by Zebra with B or HB lead.

Pens. And in particular the newer gel pens. Pens with traditional ink tend to glob and smear.

I can’t think of the last time I used a pencil. I doubt I have one in the house.

Always hated pencils. Love pens. I used to use a fountain pen, but gel pens write so nicely!

I have a hell of a time finding a pencil when I need it.
I only use them to price second-hand paper goods for resale.

Fine point ink pens for me, black.

Me like crayons, exshpecially the purple ones.

I’ll use a pencil for notes, but it had better be a Dixon Ticonderoga #2, or a Blackwing 602.

I’ll use a pen if it will be handled by another person.

I use both, but pens are used when writing checks of course. I use printer paper or my daughter’s school paper when notes need to be written.

I have a mechanical pencil I use for documenting formulations I work on in the lab here at work.

Pencils. They match my handwriting more. Pens just make it look sloppy.

Pencils, all the time, for certain things—especially taking notes in or about books. Pencils with a certain crisp, smooth touch are a pleasure to use, and when I find them I buy a lot of them.

There are pencils within reach just about anywhere in my house.

Ink for other purposes, including any handwritten correspondence and, of course, checks. I have pens in my pocket.

I use Bic pens and occasionally a fountain pen. I have a set of pencils in my computer desk drawer but I rarely use them.

Pencils rule. I can erase all my mistakes. Not that I ever make any mistakes… Theoretically, if I ever were to make a mistake, my love of pencils would allow me to obliterate it.

But seriously, I love pencils. I’m a big fan of written pentimento.

Earthbound_Misfit's avatar

I use both. I use pens mostly, but if I’m taking notes during an interview or if I’m in the archives or some libraries, I’ll use a pencil. There are some places where pens aren’t welcome and you can’t even take them in with you.

I would never sign a document in pencil or use a pencil where I’d be even slightly concerned about what I wrote being changed.

I use pens and pencils, papers and notebooks. They all offer different things. Pencils are nice because they’re erasable.

@ucme – go play with crayons, dear. Run along.

ucme's avatar

No fankyoo, me do potty time right now.

Love_my_doggie's avatar

@ucme Personally, I was always fond of the Flesh crayon, which was some sickly-beige version of Caucasian skin. Who the heck ever had skin that looked anything like that?

ucme's avatar

@Love_my_doggie Yeah, true, purple was so versatile though i’d have the sky, sea, grass & people all coloured purple just because I could.

msh's avatar

Your mouth beat you there!
Go sWipe elsewhere.
Indeed.

@^^ a prime example of – “don’t ever, ever, do this” à la Gary Larson.
In any way…

Not my fault if you don’t have a sense of humor.

ucme's avatar

Haha, bizarre but amusing nonetheless.

msh's avatar

@XOIIO – you aren’t in the mix here. Nothing about you or humor. Chill.

ucme's avatar

Sour puss, grumpy face, sour puss, gru…oh dear, I laughed so much I got hiccups.

msh's avatar

Im sorry. This all made me think of this. It’s too funny not to show you.
Enjoy @ucme….

It’s ok- I didn’t bring a felt board and pointer to explain it anyways. Now you’ll never know the fun of US commercials. Tsk, pity, that.
