Has anyone tried an epilator before?
I’ve been thinking about getting one for a while and i was wondering what people think.
And yes, I’m aware it’s going to be painful!

I got one but couldn’t bring myself to use it because of the pain I imagined it would bring. Just couldn’t bear the thought of it. So it was a complete waste of money.

I use it on my legs. Just stretch the skin and it’s fine. But I have a crazy high pain tolerance I found out. I had no idea until I had a kid.

Way back when, maybe during the late-1980s, I tried the original. It was called “Epilady,” and it had spring coils. At first, the device worked well and didn’t hurt much. It was very subject to failure, however, and eventually stopped being effective and became painful. I recall that replacement heads were sold separately; I bought and installed new spring coils a couple of times, then I gave up and discarded the device.

Newer versions use a tweezing effect that’s supposedly more effective. But, I’ve read negative reviews, saying that hair may snap-off, rather than being pulled-out, leaving razor-like stubble. Because of these reviews, I haven’t taken the plunge and bought a device.

I’ll be interested in more Jelly comments.

I too tried the 80’s version like @Love_my_doggie mentioned and was not impressed. I think Nair works better, if you don’t have an issue with slathering your legs in smelly chemicals. I’m older now and really don’t care if my legs are perfectly groomed every minute of my life. I was also the 70’s girl and didn’t shave at all for years. Being a fair skinned blonde I had very light blonde leg hair and never had a guy complain. haha

@Coloma I love the idea of you as a razor-free 70s girl! I’ve always thought of myself as a bit of a Flower Child.

@Love_my_doggie Haha, yes, and you know what, I actually really liked how my blonde leg hair glowed against my super tan legs. I did always shave my armpits though, couldn’t quite let them go. lol

@didi23 I have been using the cordless rechargeable Emjoi Emagine. Has 72 tweezers. It works great! What I also like about epilating is the hair, when it grows back is finer hair and more sparse. I have used epilator for over 15 years. I particularly like the Emjoi brand.
