The Koch Brothers have not released the usual 'promised' four hundred million dollars* to any Republican candidate. Why not?

Asked by msh (4270points) March 3rd, 2016 from iPhone

The Koch Brother always donate their pocket change to the presidential race every four-plus years. A usual primary amount of four hundred million has still not been granted to any candidate. (* amounts vary as to the actual dollar amount beginning donated- latest NYTimes report doubles this amount for total amounts the Koch’s donate.)
Why are they holding back? Do they want the Donald to fund his own fun?
Are they silently commenting upon the candidates running this Election?
Will allowing Donald, while not ideal, yet who is Big Business, like them win without donation nor comment signal a quiet Yes? So his bid might have some positives for their own interests.
Neither an endorsement nor a donation.
Remember, the Kochs have lost a great deal of their political donation monies on the unsuccessful McCain and Romney campaigns the last two elections. Gun shy without the NRA? (a joke, a jest- just making sure… )
What’s up with the Kochs?

Why not ask the Brothers themselves?

Because there is not a clear enough front runner and there are a lot of balls in the air that could cause a 180 degree change in who will be the Republican Pres candidate. Things are so entirely confused that they will not invest their fortune on anyone until things in the race settles down. They are clearly not fans of Trump and quite the opposite and are on the sidelines because they are very aware of Trumps ability to conquer the air time on all media outlets for virtually free while Trump’s competitors have to spend valuable resources to barely get a word in edge wise. The harder his opponents work to snuff him the weaker his opponents appear. A true enigma that has clearly has both sides of the isle on their heels.

I heard read somewhere (sorry I can’t remember where) that the Kochs aren’t too thrilled with the Donald.

That may be, you two, however they have put up funding behind primary candidates within their own party against one another in the past. Their separating themselves from the fray- does this show distain or prudence? A hissy over proper campaign manners?

I’m sorry @janbb, to what are you referencing? Or just a quip?

Last thing I read is that they would not give it to Trump and they had wasted enough with little to no results thus far on other candidates.
This is only in the Presidential race. They still send tons of funds to help candidates they want to win in state and local races.

@msh I’m saying we could speculate but they’re the only ones who would know.

They are probably waiting to see who will be the strongest contender. As it stands right now, most people don’t really care for any of the republicans. They are all too erratic. Well except for Kaish, but he seems to much in the middle or unknown for most Republicans.
