What is the opposite of escapism?

Involvement, engagement, immersion. Probably obsession at the far end. And denial would be out there past escapism at the other end.

If I had to place them on a continuuum, I’d put indifference in the middle, with interest on either side of it, one negative and the other positive. And I probably wouldn’t call it healthy, although it might not be bad either. Depends on what the subject is.

Sometimes the line wraps all the way around, with obsession meeting denial at the same deadly spot.

This is just an off-the-cuff response. I’m not sure how these terms would rank either in a dictionary or in a glossary of psychology.
