When was the last time you cried and why?

Asked by MooCows (3216points) April 7th, 2016

I am curious to see if men get into this question also
as society has put a negative spin on men crying.
The last time I cried was last week when I heard
my Coastie son’s voice from way out in the oceans
somewhere unknown. It was a joyful cry!

June of 2015. I don’t want to talk about it though.

Then there was March of 2006 when we took Mom to Seattle and put her in a retirement home. I have never cried so hard in my life. That was far, far worse than when she died 8 months later.

Then there is September of 2002. Lots of changes going on and I was scared.

I teared up yesterday watching this video of Aretha Franklin singing “Natural Woman” at the 2015 Kennedy Center Honors, especially when the camera cut to Carole King, co-writer of the song and one of the honorees. Ms. King’s reaction to Aretha’s stunning performace was amazing, and quite touching.

I wept salty tears when our butler, on his day off, answered my emergency call & showed up for duty.
I’d mislaid my Tweety Pie slippers & was beside myself with rage, Carstairs rescued the situation when he found Bootsy playing snakes & ladders, neath our bed, with Jemima the oversized rubber duck.
As you can imagine, emotions were running at fever pitch, real men are not afraid to cry

About two hours ago while watching ep 2 of The Island with Bear Grylls.

What happened to Hannah teared me up. Then I remembered that her PTSD pales in comparison to what she did to innocents in Iraq. Sorry you lost your leg and freak the fuck out when there is lightning. You signed up for “shock and awe” on millions of people. We bombed the fuck out of them for years. Sorry Hannah, one attack form a mortar and you want to snowflake some PTSD.. And yes, I know she lost part of her leg.

Films I freely admit to crying over, or at least welled up a little:

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
Schindler’s List
ET
Wall-E
Debbie Does Dallas…I caught my foreskin in my fly, what can I say?

It was actually last night while watching an episode of the Simpsons (season 19). It was the episode about the Simsons documentary Lisa made. Well Nelson made a documtary too and I have to admit it was very touching. Poor Nelson.

Um…

Uh…

I don’t remember.

I didn’t have time to cry when Russell got hit by the car. There was too much to be done.

There’s one song that always gets me a little misty-eyed, and I don’t even think that got me the last time I heard it.

This is a sign. Fuck, I’m due for a breakdown.

WAIT! I remember!

I cried over David Bowie and Alan Rickman’s deaths. Kind of a lot, actually.

OK, I might not be that bad off right now.

ucme's avatar

Me too, Rickman’s death had me filling up, not done that since Rik Mayall

Dutchess_III's avatar

Hey…how is Russell @Seek??

Seek's avatar

He’s healing and in good spirits. He has a long road to 100%, but nothing is broken and no major surgery needed, so his middle name has been changed to Lucky.

I knew you could do it! If you couldn’t, no one could.

A few weeks ago I was chronically puking. The gagging force was so strong that my face was purple, my eyes were very red, and tears were coming from my eyes. I guess that counts, right?
I can’t remember the last time I cried before that.

I rarely cry, I tear up a bit but the last time I really, really cried was about 13 years ago during a bad divorce, and not because I was sad, just sheer stress and frustration. I did tear up and feel sad when one of my pets died in Feb. but just choked up not sobbing. I do get choked up at movies sometimes too, but usually if I cry it is from extreme stress or frustration not so much sadness.

Today, actually. I don’t cry very often, but you picked the right day: I had slept for about four hours, and woke up to the sound of my young dog, Wilson, choking – or so I thought – on a rawhide chew. I rushed him to the vet’s, while also being responsible for a new Q&A website I’m working for. At the clinic, they immediately took Wilson away for X-Rays. It was really hard to watch him walk away with the vet, especially after being worried about him for pretty much a week straight…he ran up almost 300$ in vet bills over the course of last week, through an eye infection and drinking stale water.

I was stressed, and nervous for him, and suddenly I was crying.

He’s okay now. Turns out the chew passed on its own, though it did trigger a cough. He’s exhausted now, but happy.

This morning. I watched a video on Facebook of a dog grieving. My dog is very old. It made me sad.

And I cried the night before. I watched the last episodes of Six Feet Under… that made me really sad too.

I’m such a sook.

I forwarded my personal addresses from home to my work computer here. When I went to save it Adi’s real name and address jumped out at me. It hit pretty hard.
