Would you take this opportunity?

Asked by ivykiana97 (39points) April 15th, 2016

You get one chance to take this super power. Only once in your lifetime, but you’re stuck with the effects for life. Would you take the power to take away other peoples’ select emotions? Here’s the catch; any emotions you eliminate will be felt BY YOU.

No.
It would be too selfish to steal their pleasurable moments and unbearable to live with too many people’s unpleasant moments.

No, I wouldn’t. Because if I was to experience all those emotions it could actually be very psychologically overwhelming.

Let’s say for example you take away the traumatic emotions away from a 9/11 surviver, a rape victim, a person with anger management issues. Can you imagine what it would be like to experience all of these emotions all the time at once? It would drove you off the edge.

No, I’d rather these people be counciled to deal with their emotions and traumas. There is only so much emotional stimulation the human mind can handle.

Nope. Sounds more like a curse than a power.

Sounds like just the sort of gig a couple of melancholic, doomongering jellies would be up for

No. Why would I want that?

The question would make more sense is the upshot was that it would eliminate similar emotions in yourself.

I would not wish to give up any emotion I’ve ever experienced.

No eternal sunshine of the spotless mind for me.

Empathetic people halfway have this power in that they feel other people’s pain but they can’t take the other person’s pain away.
