What is your favorite Beer?

Asked by MacHacker (75points) July 19th, 2007

I am a big fan of beer. I especially enjoy home made/micro beers. When ever I go out to places that I have not drank at before, I always try to order a beer that I have never tried. So, now to my question. What is your all time favorite beer?

Ill start: Mine is Guinness, speciffically Guinness "Northstar." It is part of Guinness's brewmasters series. I drank it in Dublin, it was amazing.

I also believe in the principle of trying the local beer everywhere you go. I call it alco-tourism. There's a great microbrewery here in the Bay Area called Jupiter's...it's near the downtown Berkeley BART station. They have a kick-ass hefeweizen.

Choosing between beers is like choosing between your children. There is no way you can pick you favorate beer. It all depends on the time of year, the temp outside, your mood and what you are eating.

The one beer that will always have a special place in my heart is Yuengling. It is America's oldest brewery based in Pottsville PA. It was the beer I was weaned on in college. I went to Penn State. It was the best beer for your money.

If you plotted all beers on a graph of quality vs 1/price and intergrated, you would find that Yuengling has the largest intergrand. Since you like Guinness I would recommend there Black & Tan or Porter.

I am also very fond of Fuller's London Pride served on the warmer side preferablly in an English pub in the country side while a football match is on.

Remember what Ben Franklin said, "Beer is proof that god loves us and wants us to be happy".

Singha from Thailand, Aventinus Weisenbock, Kostritzer schwarzbier, Cooper’s sparkling Ale, Fuller’s ESB, are a few favourites that I recommend to anyone that hasn’t tried them.

My two favorites are Chateau Jiahu by Dogfish Head and Ruination by Stone. Or, more generally, whatever beer is in front of me at any given moment.
