Do you know of any online file system or repository where I can save all the URLs ?

Asked by Khajuria9 (2141points) May 9th, 2016

Actually, I am into data mining, a large part of it deals with organizing data sets, I come across a number of websites, urls and yourtube links etc. which are very much useful to me. But everytime, I have to write them down in a note-book or so, it gets a bit nasty. If anyone of you could suggest me a software, app or any online system where I can save all the urls, web links, videos etc. so that I dont have to save them in a word file or write them in a note-book? Any responses shall be appreciated.

How about trying the most simple method of bookmarking the websites you come across first? Just one button on the browser and you are done. Or you can even save the webpages. Just click Flie -> Save page as…

Go into your email and create a folder labeled what you want. When you have a URL to save, send yourself an email with the URL in the SUBJECT LINE. You end up with a nice list. You don’t have to open emails in your list. The information is saved on someone elses server. It is accessible from anywhere. You won’t lose it if your own system fails. No cons here.

Look into TiddlyWiki. Using TW you can create your own desktop html file, and you can organize the links into tiddlers (groups) of your own choosing, add tags to suit your organization and name the links as you wish. There are lots of formatting options – and it’s all free.

There are also free hosting options if you choose to save your tiddlers on the Web.

Go into google docs, use the spreadsheet and copy the links as hotlinks. I do this to keep all of my links handy

I use http://pinboard.in/

It isn’t free but it is cheap and works very well.

I also like Treepad.

It’s a nice and fairly simple database framework that you can build out in any number of ways – and hyperlinks are one of its strong suits. All versions are available in try-before-you-buy mode, and there is one mode that is completely free, and which will also give a good indication of the value of the program.

If you save the file in a Dropbox, then it’s also “online” all of the time.

Recommended.

And I had totally forgotten Evernote, which I’ve been using for years and years now. Secure, available all of the time, taggable, and it also has free options.
