Indian American kids seem to be dominating this competition for last decade or so. What do you think might be the reason for this?

It’s genetic. Their forebearers had to deal with names like the Venkatanarasimharajuvaripeta railway station.

White kids are taught that knowledge is elitist and uncolonial.

That part is true for a large part of the population.

^^ True. I recently complained to my daughter’s Jr High principal that the school honors its athletes more than it does its academic achievers.

I think Indian and East Asian (Chinese and Japanese) kids are taught to study study study and read and take music lessons, as opposed to playing video games which is prevalent for many white and black kids.

Much, not all.

I used to have a boss who was from China. Her two daughters were only allowed a few hours of TV on Saturdays. Other than that, it was studying, homework, piano and violin lessons and Chinese culture school. One went to Harvard, one went to Yale. That is not unusual in Asian cultures.

Wouldn’t you want your kids to top that competition?

It would appear that it will fall to the children of recent immigrants to sustain our former standards.

Some parents value spelling over the alternative, varied edication.
