An entire collection from the 40s and 50s, and just yesterday.

My mother’s in a nursing home, where there are frequent sing-alongs featuring the music of that generation. I was at such an event yesterday, loudly and fully singing “Sentimental Journey,” “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” “All the Way,” and I forget what else.

Now that she’s in the later stages of Alzheimer’s disease, Mom can no longer remember lyrics. But, she still has a pretty voice and will belt-out a tune in joyful gibberish. We really have a nice time.

Since I’m a musician, I feel a bit overqualified to answer, because I sing out loud all the time. Last one I remember is harmonizing to “Midnight Rambler” when it came up on my Spotify playlist.

Hallelujah with kd lang. I sang it with her today. She seemed appreciative of my singing ability.~

Sung while in the shower, alone, two days ago.

This one, but only because I thought it was very funny. I feel very sad about what’s happening in the currently not so United Kingdom.

Edit: Changed to the version with the word fuck.

The SO has been learning French for the past several years. When in the kitchen, the Internet radio is often set to a French channel. Claude Nouvaro’s song about Louis Armstrong is done to the tune of “Let My People Go” and is played frequently. The latter is an old spiritual song that was sung in my childhood.

When that song comes on, I sing along using the American lyrics.

A 15th century lullaby.

I sang that to get another song unstuck from my head, and that one was the Orange is the New Black theme song.

While I was cooking dinner. I’m almost always singing to myself. I wish I was good at it.

I never sing aloud unless I’m forced to, but when I do I go for things like this. I was with some friends at a karaoke shop. I don’t follow the trend and I have limited knowledge of new popular songs so I sat there silently while they party, giving them the false impression that I was shy in the process. Then it was my turn to choose. I dug through my memory of possible songs that they could recognize, and I showed my true demon and had them at “WTF HOW COULD SHE HAVE THAT KIND OF VOICE?” with that song.

This. I saw this little girl sing this song recently and have been singing it in my car a lot. Of course, she puts me to shame. haha

Do You Hear The People Sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again

When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes

Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?
Then join in the fight
That will give you the right to be free

sang along this morning while reading the news.

Why has my question been revived like this?
It bothers me :D

LadyMarissa's avatar

I was wondering the same. Maybe the powers that be felt it more worthy than the current Q’s. Now that you’ve asked, I NEVER sing out loud as even I can’t stand that sound & my dog thanks me daily!!!

ucme's avatar

Oh, I know!
I looked through some of my old questions & saw this, was going to ask it again but wouldn’t let me.

Maybe that triggered it in some way, funny if true though as another “oldie” was accepted.
