[NSFW] How should I deal with this personal health issue (see details below)?

Asked by LazyMe10 (515points) August 8th, 2016

Who knows about prone masturbation and how to treat it?

I should off by saying, this is a serious question. If it grosses you out or something then fine, but this is more of a health question that has caught my attention and concern. Why? Well I’ll admit I did prone for about maybe a month or two or maybe three…it wasnt long. But I threw away the pillow so I wouldn’t prone anymore.

The reason i stopped is because I was researching “pillow humping” and found out it was called prone masturbation and that it was bad! If I remember correctly, it messes up your nerves and delays orgasm function (I’ll post the link that I was reading over time). This had me concerned, although the people commenting or asking the question said they were doing it for years. Me on the other had just a few months and dont want to do it anymore. So am I still effected or no?

Plus I wanted to try prone cause I wanted to try something new. An I got tired of my fingers, to be honest, masturbating with fingers that have nails burn! (im a female by the way, so sorry guys if your dealing with prone masturbation as well) But reading up on it, it’s best to get back to using your hands or your body wont get you an orgasm at all or you may not feel aroused my someones hands, etc. An also over excessive masturbation cause nerves problems and orgasm dysfunction. So hearing all of this just makes me not want to masturbate at all, I mean I never masturbated a lot to begin with since ive been single all my life and alone. But this mess is kind of scary…..an I always care about my health over anything…so please let me know your thoughts on this and how to handle prone masturbation.

Like I said, I wont do it again! But I would like to know some ways to prevent myself from going back or some remedies or herbs that help with nerve repair. Or an herbal tea I guess.

Prone masturbation is potentially bad in men because it puts a lot of strain on the base of the errect penis. During prone masturbation the erect penis is bent down towards the feet as opposed to sticking out. If you haven’t got a penis you can probably masturbate lying on your tummy all you like.

@Lightlyseared No I don’t have a penis since I’m a woman. But woman can have prone masturbation issues as well. So it’s not just for “males only”.

I’d ask a doctor rather than relying on questionable websites.

I’m a medical librarian. I did a bit of research in the medical databases I have access to. My search strategy was to look for Masturbation AND trauma AND women in the title of the article or the abstract. I didn’t find anything on this topic.

I also searched for the phrase “prone masturbation”. Nothing.

I found the 1998 article on Traumatic Masturbatory Syndrome that one of your links refers to. It’s on men’s penises so not relevant.

I then looked for evidence that mastubation is bad for women. Nothing. Everything that came up was about mastubation being good for women’s sexual wellbeing.

So I would feel free to mastubate any way you like as much as you like. Women are the fortunate ones in this regard

Well it seems that it’s only people on the internet who are trying to sell you shit who actually seem to be concerned about it. So I wouldn’t worry about it.

@Lightlyseared @Stinley okay, thanks for the information.
Sorry for the late reply, internet problems
