Yep. Back when it was new. I have always wanted to find the episode where Crockett and a woman were in a swimming pool together. They were talking about life and relationships. One of them said something that made me stop dead. I had never thought about the subject like that before. Never have found it again.
What is yours?

I forgot to turn my brain off!
That show was so current when first put-forth as a series idea. In the 80’s, it wasn’t all about Crockett and Tubb’s character wardrobes and Miami- cool. The President and the CIA, DEA officials were spending billions and making incredible deals, treaties, business with everyone from South American dictators to Border Guard ‘Turning a Blind Eye’ on land And water. So much so, that until this show was broadcast, most Americans had little to no idea about any of the going’s on. It shocked most, and some did dismiss it as fictional. The best part was, some cases of the show’s little fish helps to catch the bigger fish, if in their best interest scenarios were based on actual living people. The higher the inference on the show- the closer for the audience to draw parallels to the real life action. Suddenly no one assumed that the drug trade wasn’t just a couple of people flying a clunker plane down to Mexico for some small haul. Washington worried how their work might appear- especially with the show’s poking them with a long stick, that Nancy Reagan’s – Just Say No To Drugs! was meant to throw the younger public off of what deals and lucrative monies there were to be made from the activities going on at the time. The appeal of the characters were Miami- the boxer, women as cops- detectives (new in that area of law enforcement at that time) alcoholism as a professional crutch to cope with the world of drugs- which were just as alluring now in the city/ country. Some of the crooked law enforcement and gov agents with the Cartels are shown in the storylines also.
It was more than just another police-show. It was a Hollywood mirror held up to the government’s undercover going’s on. Enemies were made concerning that show for future endeavors.
Now my head hurts.
If you get to watch them again, and wish to, take a look at the timelines in real life, and the dealings with the ‘cartelcharacters’ on the show.
The cars and boats are just added sugar. ;)
Enjoy! Take care.
