What solid proof is there that a Hillary Presidency would not be as disastrous as it is believed that a Trump Presidency be?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) November 13th, 2016

Online, in the coffee shop, on the street etc. it seems like some (those who did not vote for Trump) believe it will be a disaster or worse that Trump got elected. I wonder how those who believe that know beyond doubt, or have something concrete that a Clinton Presidency would not be worse than or equally as bad as a Trump Presidency? Are they merely going off personal belief that Hillary would be better because they like her but have nothing so concrete they would bet their vehicle are house on? Are those Hillary fans so clairvoyant they can see what no one else can see about the performance of a President in the future?

We’re comparing a person with 40 years of experience in diplomacy and politics with a many-times-failed businessperson who picked up politics as a hobby last year.

I mean, I’ve taken a high school level anatomy course and dissected a rat and a fetal pig once. Would you trust me to do your brain surgery over Dr. Ben Carson? I’ve got some new ideas and I could really shake things up…

As an outsider looking in lets see what I observed…
1 Fuck a living wage ,Trump doesn’t even want a minimum wage that will help out the working class.
2. Trump doesn’t believe in climate change and wants out of any agreements ,and if the usa pulls out china and russia won’t be far behind that will do the ole earth some good huh?
3, his regards towards women is disgusting.

4. he has no real experience at politics, his level of diplomacy during the election was horrible I can’t begin to think what he will be like dealing with foreign countries.
One thing you can count on is the divide between the rich and poor will be massive at the end of this 4 years.

So, even someone who managed to spend 12 years as a mayor is better qualified for President than someone who never ran for anything? Being a Governor or even a Senator is about as different from piloting a dingy from a container ship. Just because one has sailed a dingy from childhood doesn’t mean they can pilot a container ship any better than a guy who never sailed a toy boat. Still, that is no proof that she won’t bomb just because she is a career politician, but if you have proof she can’t fail or won’t, do tell.

So, Hillary will usher in a living wage that so far eluded everyone else? What he does or doesn’t believe has what effect on how effective Clinton will be?

2. Trump doesn’t believe in climate change and wants out of any agreements ,and if the usa pulls out china and russia won’t be far behind that will do the ole earth some good huh?
It is somewhat arrogant to think mere man can destroy this earth; it survived the ravages of WWII, Gulf War I when the oil fields burned for about a year, and the BP oil spill, just to get started, the world recovered from that, man will never destroy this planet. What guarantee Hillary can save the planet more than Trump?

3, his regards towards women is disgusting.
There is something you know that Bill will behave himself in the White House this time around?

4. he has no real experience at politics, his level of diplomacy during the election was horrible I can’t begin to think what he will be like dealing with foreign countries.
You suggest there be a vetting of candidates, you cannot be President unless you do X years in Congress or the Senate, you cannot be in the Senate or Congress unless you do X amount of years as a governor, you cannot be a governor unless you do certain amount of years as a state treasurer, you cannot be the treasurer until after certain years as a county supervisor, and so on, and so on?

Trump just hired a white nationalist to be his chief presidential adviser. One who is largely responsible for the modern revival of the white supremacist movement in general. Enough said.

@Hypocrisy_Central As usual, you start from a flawed premise. There is no solid proof that Ms. Clinton would not be a disaster; yet there is a strong likelihood that Mr. Trump’s time in office will be disastrous.

And those views by many are based on taking him at his word, not by surmises or conjectures. He announced his economic plans, and conservative media estimated he would quadruple the debt.

We have watched his behavior under pressure for the last 18 months, the man cannot abide criticism.

And your statement ”...the world recovered from that. is false. We have not recovered from many of those insults, and when recovery from such disasters take decades, not years, and reversing the damage that has been done is difficult, your apostolic belief system is incredulous.

Again, I see a lot of duck, dodge and hiding with no real answer. The only thing you said truthfully is no one can tell if she would be any better because there is no solid proof. What Trump’s presidency will be like is estimation because no one can foretell the future and if they could and they are not filthy rich, they must be stupid. Trump can be a Boorish, apeish buffoon swinging from tree to tree, that is still not guarantee Clinton would be any better, she could be a snakeish Jezebel slithering through government.

And those views by many are based on taking him at his word, not by surmises or conjectures.
I can ask the other side and get similar rhetoric, however, most members of the party of Twiddle Dumb I talked to can at least tell me some of Trump’s policies, talking with members of the party of Twiddle Dee, they can’t tell me anything solid Clinton will do, they were just voting for her along party lines.

It only took one year, there about, for the Gulf to rebound from the PB spill in which the talking heads said would be devastated for decades to come, don’t know what you are speaking of.

There’s no “solid proof” that the sun will rise in the morning, but the universally recognized potential for catastrophe at the hands of Mr. Trump is difficult to exaggerate. In this campaign our President elect missed no opportunity to exhibit his unsuitability for public office in a campaign of little more than scurrilous insults, ridiculous promises and farcical imaginary facts invented on the fly at the candidate’s whim. Defenders of the buffoon rather than contest the truth of the open and stark buffoonery would prefer to find fault with the “establishment press” and anyone else who noticed these FACTS as a tasteless and obnoxious fool pompously displayed his astonishing ignorance and crass shortfalls in deportment. For those prepared to view these attributes as positive character references and conflate blatant lies with “plain speaking”, there really is no hope. And since there apparently are enough dummies to sit still for it, we can all watch the country follow the blustering idiot down the drain as once more, the country gets the President it deserves.

So what then, did Hillary say, soft-spoken, eloquently phrased, full of exaltations that proves she will be far better to the point you can bet the farm on it and not worry one iota of losing it?

As @Seek says Clinton had been an active and hard driving politician for some 40 years. She may be the epitome of entrenched politicians with all the taint accompanying that fact. But no one can accuse her of not understanding our system of governing. Trump on the other hand knows next to nothing on the workings of his government beyond the fact that it is as corrupt as he is conceited. But let’s all sit back and enjoy the ride. We can compare notes in the upcoming months, but I can tell you that conservatives are in for some bitter disappointments.

I heard on the radio that he said he wants to eliminate the Environmental Protection Agency. That will put us back to around the mid-1800’s, not including the harm that fracking will do, having pipelines all over the country including through national parks.

He also said on 60 Minutes that he is going to nominate Supreme Court justices that are pro-life. He said “if abortion is overturned, then it will just go back to the states.” That means if you have a state with a pro-life governor, you’ll have no abortion. If a pro-choice governor, there will be abortion. Obviously, for abortion providers, this will be a roller coaster and maybe not worth bothering. I hope my daughter (who is 9 now) never needs or wants and abortion but if she does, it would be nice if she has a choice.

Rob Dyke has something to say. If his words are anything to believe, Hillary’s reign would be equally bad as Trump’s is predicted to be.

Trump supporters do not expect Trump’s presidency to be disastrous. The campaign is over. Time for America to go back to work.
