In the future, what, if any, would the US have first, a woman President, straight Asian male or female, or a gay or Bi male President?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) November 15th, 2016

Seeing this election proved anything can happen, down the line somewhere, if it does happen, would the US have a woman or a Bi or gay male President first?

How about an openly atheist president?

stanleybmanly's avatar

Or a Methodist, or acrobat, or bald midget, or woman with 11 toes, or motorcycle mechanic, or peeping Tom?

Seek's avatar

We already have the peeping Tom.

How about a Muslim president?

I would think that a woman president would be most likely of the choices you gave, in part because there is a greater statistical chance of having a woman who is qualified, given that they constitute half the population.

In answer to @Rarebear‘s question, I think there is near zero chance of having an atheist president, less likely than electing a Muslim.

What is Trump’s religion? I don’t remember hearing or reading much about Trump and religious beliefs for all his embrace by right wing Christians. I think his religion is belief in The Donald.

The question assumes that we have not already had a gay president. I wouldn’t be so sure that assumption is true. Maybe he was in the closet, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all.

That said, the gay/bisexual is the least likely. It’s too hung up with religion and bigotry.

The woman president is most likely, given that Clinton won the popular vote, although not the electoral college.

The Asian male would be subject to the same sort of racist innuendos that Obama was, as a black man. Questions about citizenship and loyalty.

Elizabeth Warren!

@jannb. Trump claims to be a Christian. He said he was a Protestant, a Presbyterian. He seems confused as to what he is, but does claim to go to church on Christmas and Easter.

janbb's avatar

@chyna Yeah – I guess I would assume that; it just never seems to have been made much of an issue one way or another.

We’ve already had a gay president – James Buchanan.

I was going to say chimpanzee, but hey…GWB

Rarebear's avatar

@Darth_Algar That’s the theory. I don’t know if that’s been documented.

Female President. The term “Asian” is kind of vague to me. South-East Asian? Japanese American? Philippine-American? Asian-American?

@Rarebear

Well even in Buchanan’s own day he was often called an “Aunt Nancy”, a slang term in those days used to refer to effeminate/homosexual men. From what I’ve read Buchanan’s sexuality was something of an open secret. It was known, but wasn’t really spoken of, at least not publicly or in polite company.

He was engaged to a woman at one point in his younger days, but that engagement floundered (and even at that it had been suspected that he only considered the marriage for financial reasons or for public appearance). Once the engagement was called off Buchanan never again bothered with even the pretense of courting women. And he lived with a male companion for a decade or so. Take all that for whatever it’s worth.

It was stupidity common for homosexual men to marry (and for women to marry them) for appearance’s sake “back in the day”.

Had I been alive “back in the day” I’d have been one of the women, likely. I’ve always been attracted to gay men. My first childhood crush was Neil Patrick Harris. The first love of my life was my best friend Kevin, who turned out to be oh, so very gay. One might think of my uber-masculine husband as a 12 year rebound.

@LostInParadise How about a Muslim president?
Because this nation would put a Muslim candidate so far behind a bald midget Little Person (since this place is so PC sensitive), a motorcycle mechanic, it would be a greater distance than the planet formally known as Pluto to Earth, even the hooker, and a the ex-MOB hitman would be in front of a Muslim in this country.

Wherever his/her parents were born, they would be an Amerasian born here, or else they could not run for office anyhow.

One thing you gotta love about HC – not only are his comebacks utterly devoid of wit, they’re utterly devoid of sense as well.

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

^ If one has no brain…well….it gets missed easy…..wit has nothing to do with it, but like I say…you need a brain to catch that….

I’m frightened for you.

HC, If you had to choose between a Muslim and an atheist, which would you vote for?

kritiper's avatar

I would say a Japanese- American would be just as likely as a woman to be the first. But not an “Asian” in general.

^^ HC, If you had to choose between a Muslim and an atheist, which would you vote for?
Umm….that would be like this past election, the choice of Jeroboam and Rehoboam. Let’s see, an atheist would try to tell congregations what they can and can’t do from the pulpit, but this nation has taken such a debased turn, there is not much damage they can do further if they did not invade the walls of the sanctuary, I know they won’t have the guts to go further by allowing others the same right to marry as gays, they are hypocritical like that. A Muslim might try to influence clergy but the Constitution is still in force and there are not as many Muslims as atheist so their chance to drive Congress is paper thin….it might be real close but I might have to hold my nose and vote the Muslim, though I would have to pray on either choice heavily before I cast a vote.

Understand this: atheists do not give a solitary fuck what you do in your Sunday social clubs. We merely want you to stop trying to insert your club’s rules into the laws that govern all of us who aren’t members of your Sunday social clubs.

You best go back and get some facts straight, Believers do not have a Sunday social club, that is what those of hedonism do in the golf course on Sundays.

Atheist =/= hedonist, religious =/= not hedonist

Atheist =/= golfer, religious =/= not golfer
