How long to cook my turkey breast in a crock pot?

My mom used to cook a turkey breast in a cooking bag in the crock pot. I have a 5 lb. turkey breast that I want to cook this way, but I have found everything from 15 hours to 5 hours. Has anyone tried this and do you know how long to cook?
I’m hoping Josie will come and answer this question.

It does take a while for yummy results. Want simple….try this one

For extra fancy I have made this one and lights out yummy.

I like @Cruiser‘s tips
I would probably throw in some chicken broth and Marsala, not much but enough to cover the crock pot bottom, and a little lemon juice
I would not brine in this case because you have a chance to use a whole pot full of drippings

No need for a bag just keep the lid on
High temp to get it going
Low temp till it hits 160
Probably 6 hours

To be honest, this is my first time cooking Thanksgiving dinner. I really appreciate your tips. I really need them. It’s down to me and my brother and his wife and her parents, so I’m trying to pick up where others left off.

For a first timer you made the right choice to slow cook the turkey which will give you every bit of the 6–7 hours you will need to make the mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, biscuits, 2 pies and appetisers, salad…if things are too much…store bought is close enough these days to home made that if you emerge from the kitchen while serving with a mild sweat on your brow they won’t know the difference as long as you hide the boxes. You got this!

Awesome, I want to do a crock pot turkey breast too! Hey….make my killer cranberry sauce to go with your Turkey Breast @chyna simple and delicious.

2 cups water
2 cups sugar
4 cups fresh cranberries, sorted and rinsed.
4–6 apples peeled, cored, and diced into cubes. Granny Smiths are good but I like the Honey Crisp apples if you can get them.

Boil sugar and water
add cranberries & apples.
Cook at low boil until skins split on cranberries and the surface is frothy/foamy.
Turn off heat and let stand for a few minutes.
Pour into jars or bowls and cool. Enjoy!

The turkey will be “done” and technically ready-to-eat when the internal temp of the meat reaches 165‎°F (73.9C)°, although I usually do it for about 7–10 hours, to make sure all the yummy flavors are melded together.

@Cruiser, you can do the cranberry sauce (@Coloma‘s recipe sounds delicious) in a crockpot on Wednesday.

Ok one last question. When do I stick the thermometer in? At the beginning or closer to end of being cooked?

@chyna Even after 4 hours of cooking the meat will be thoroughly cooked, but I always check meat internal temp at the end.

@chyna I have an instant read thermometer Thermapen. Not cheap but fast and accurate.

@chyna NOT Cheap.
They stand behind the product, I know someone that had a major problem with a ten year old and several updates old unit. Sent them an email and he got a current replacement, no questions and keep the old one.

No, it’s not cheap. And for someone like me that hardly ever cooks, I would not buy one. But it is still cool!

I always just wing it pun intended haha When the juices run clear and the meat is all white and tender I pull the bird. I don’t think I have ever used a meat thermometer.

@Coloma Thanks. BUT I CAN’T WING IT! I’m not a cook. If the recipe says a pinch of salt, I panic that my pinch is more than they really mean.

@chyna LOL You just need some champagne, it will calm you down. I always have about 4 glasses of Champagne while cooking. haha
