Ladies....do you wear these Tube sock dresses?

Asked by Cruiser (40449points) December 11th, 2016

Increasingly I am seeing on air TV personalities wear what I equate to nothing more than a sheer tube sock and wonder just how many women (or men) actually wear this stretchy flexy fabric in public?

I used to wear dresses made of fabrics that looked tailored out a heavier woven fabric, similar to suit fabric. Back in the 80’s and 90’s that was more the style. I usually wore a simple solid color. Obviously, the dress you posted has to colors of fabric and exaggerates an hour glass look. I definitely would wear it if I lost 20 pounds. Right now I rarely wear a dress.

Many of the actresses you see wearing those dresses are squeezed into full body Spanks (girdles) and I won’t do that.

I’m not always fond of stretch, when it’s too stretchy it often creeps around or wrinkles, unless your in a size that makes you look very squeezed in. No stretch, or a very small
percentage is better.

Back when I used to sell jeans at Armani Exchange we had a women’s jean that had the side seams not straight up the sides to the waistline, but more forward as it came across the hip up into the waist. It was supposed to make you look thinner with a more shape ass. We called it the Italian style, as the Italians are more focused on asses than breasts. It’s the same concept as the dress featured in the link—draw the eye towards the line of the inner color. That jean also happened to be a little short in the rise, so it tended to fit many of our Latin American customers also, which was well suited since it’s also a culture full of men who like watching women walk away.

Neither I nor the tube would be happy with me wearing such an item.

No, and it has nothing to do with my body shape or fitness. I’ve always aspired to look more like Jackie Kennedy and less like Jackie Stallone.

I would look like a poorly stuffed sausage if I wore such a thing.

I don’t wear dresses.

All the anchor women here (NY metro) wear those. They’re not sheer. They’re called “Scuba dresses” because they’re made with scuba material. They are popular because the colors are slimming due to the fact that they fool the eye (as in the photo, the pattern makes you think she has a slimmer waist than she may).

I don’t wear dresses period. Can’t stand ‘em.
I’m also not comfortable with form-fitting tops, I have something of a gut.
