Has anyone else tried out the Alexa "echo".

My wife’s much younger kid brother laid one on us st Christmas. The thing is incredible as well as spooky.

Yeah, I have two. Wife scoffed at it when I got it for us but now she wants one in every room. If you can get over the spying fears it’s really handy. New features seem to be added daily.

My sister got me a Dot for Christmas. I haven’t even begun to tap the real potential, but so far it’s kinda fun. I like saying “Alexa, good morning” and learning a factoid about the date.
Unfortunately, ads on TV for Lexus, and the word “relax” in some contexts will trigger it.
I got some helpful advice here.

I have the Google Home. I like it but so far I only use it for music and alarm. I’ve heard my daughter ask it to spell words.

Mine is a Dot. Got it for Xmas. Love it, love it, love it! It has replaced my clock radio. I’m still discovering great new uses.

No. It can’t make calls or text. If it could do that, I’d get it.

We’ve got one in our home. Mostly use it for playing music while cleaning or cooking, and keeping a shopping list that everyone in the house can access from the app. It’s also fun to ask her to tell you jokes – they’re pretty much the cheesy, corny ones I like. :)

In testing what she can do, we did also ask her for the time and weather in other places around the country our relatives live, for measurement conversions, and traffic conditions. Pretty neat!
