Do you do anything for Super Bowl?

Asked by jca (36062points) February 5th, 2017

Do you host a gathering, go to a party, stay home and watch, or totally not care about Super Bowl?

I may go to visit friends. It’s my friend’s birthday and her hubby usually does a Sunday dinner. Super Bowl will be something to look at while there, but it’s not something I must see or do.

I am more into watching the commericials so I can participate in discussions with friends or understand when I hear people talk about which commercials were fun.

I may end up staying home. I am not into football at all.

I know today’s a good day to go shopping, because most stores except food stores are empty. It’s like a holiday for a lot of people – hosting gatherings or going to gatherings starting in mid-afternoon.

No, I am not a sports fan at all. I always get invited to events, I always decline. haha

I do love the Budweiser Clydesdale commercials.

I watch the puppy bowl.
Cuz…well…puppies.

We love the Puppy Bowl. My daughter still remembers cute names of the puppies from last year. “Little Puddin Head” or something like that LOL.

Been sick with the flu all week so staying put and not inviting anyone over to get infected either. Running to the store to get a slab of ribs and some crab and other goodies to eat while I watch Atlanta take away Brady’s pipe dream of another SB ring!

I watch the Kitten bowl, cuz….well….kittens! haha

Besides ignore it? No.

ARE_you_kidding_me's avatar

I ignore it too which makes me quite the outsider. I did not even realize it was today until this thread.

I don’t even know if it will air here on a channel I get. It doesn’t start here until 00.30 my time so I won’t bother. I watched a few years ago when the Packers won. I did tune in to watch the rugby work cup and yelled and screamed as the All Blacks won.

If the only reason to check out the super bowl is to watch the comercials then damn man, yall got some boring ass shit goin on.

Ignore, ignore, ignore. Except insofar as it interferes with something I want to do, such as making it difficult to get a salesperson’s attention in a department store. But no danger of that today; I’m not shopping. Otherwise, my level of interest is less than zero.

As for commercials, I watch them during the Olympics as a biennial checkup on the prevailing culture. Otherwise, no interest in televised advertising either.

Well, I’ll do a lot, but I draw the line at (most) criminal activity, nudity (my own), outrageous ransom demands and sexual humiliation. But feel free to make a proposal.

Oh, maybe I should have read the details first.

Edit to add: At least I’ll get to laugh at @Cruiser‘s tears when it’s all over.

Cruiser's avatar

@CWOTUS You need to pay attention…Trump won, the Cubs won and Atalanta will win and Brady will once again cry Boo Hoo….

Dutchess_III's avatar

Me, not so much. Hubs would like a big deal. Today will be 7 layer dip and jalapeno poppers. Now THAT’S a big enough deal for me!

MrGrimm888's avatar

@Cruiser . First off, I hope you feel better.

Secondly. FUCK Brady. I hope Atlanta wins, but I hope Brady takes a beating either way. I loved watching the Broncos kick.his cheating ass in the playoffs last year.

I’m pulling for “Matty Ice” to take the Falcons to meet the Teflon Don…

I generally make my prediction as to which team the organization has pre-determined will win, then find anything else to do while I listen to people yell at the TV for three hours.

I have been house-sitting for my sitter for the last few days. Last night my headphones died. So I will probably use this opportunity to walk to Target to get a new pair. I don’t think I can manage the three hours on the bus to get back home without headphones.

Trump was being interviewed by someone. I wasn’t really listening. The interviewer asked him a question and Trump went off on a long, rambling speech that ended with, “We have to help our friends, right?”
The interviewer goes, “Um. No. I asked for prediction for the game.”

That’s all I heard of that interview.

I am here…..need I say more…. :-(

AshlynM's avatar

I have no interest in sports at all. I’d rather watch a movie or read.

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

Caught it online as the Patriots made the Falcons snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

jca's avatar

Unbelievable.

JLeslie's avatar

Usually not. My husband does watch it every year. Usually, I watch some of it with him. Once in a blue moon we are invited somewhere, but I’m pretty sure my husband prefers the comfort of being at home.

CWOTUS's avatar

These days, I mostly just look forward to it.

Most of the way through Sunday’s game, I had no idea in the world that I would end up enjoying it as much as I did. I just wanted the Patriots to “lose by less”, since it was pretty obvious to anyone who watches the game that they had zero chance. No chance at all.
