Would anyone be interested in expanding the Jelly experience by bringing it to the VR world of Second Life?

Asked by cazzie (24516points) February 18th, 2017

We can meet in Second Life on some land I have, or some other public area. Create a group and even use voice chat. It would sort of be a ‘meeting room’ but perhaps create an environment where we can interact a bit more freely. Let me know if you’d be interested. I can give you run down and a location. SL is a very large virtual stage.

Yes

(actually, no)

I’d have to give a flying fuck about jelly first.

^I don’t think @cazzie meant the other site called Jelly but meant Fluther

cazzie's avatar

Yeah, I meant Fluther and ‘us jellies’ but I can see folks are less then enthused, so… nvm.

Is that still a thing?

cazzie's avatar

Yes, @Rarebear. I meet there with a science group to listen to Science Friday and BBC Naked Scientist on Sundays. ( I also have a firefly ship to play on

Huh. Neat.

I tried SL and was traumatized! I must be totally thick I couldn’t work a thing out. Which is odd since I’ve been a developer on IMVU for about 6 years now.

Ummm….exactly how would this differ from what we currently have here?

cazzie's avatar

Yeah, I guess it’s too complicated for most people to bother with.

Nope, then we’d lose our anonymity. That is one of the best things about Fluther. We can speak our minds, but still remain relatively anonymous.

SL is anonymous. You make an avatar that looks like your own personal barbie doll and give it a name and walk around or sit at a table and talk. It is in real time. You can listen to podcasts together and comment on them and share ideas and links in real time. But I think it is frustrating for people because it is a bit buggy and shit.

@cazzie That doesn’t sound appealing at all.

cazzie's avatar

Yeah, it’s good for shut ins and people with disabilities, and I guess lonely old ladies with no friends or family.

You can count me as a friend @cazzie . For what it’s worth.

I will probably give it a try,but I have to motivate myself to get into it.
