Why are wine and beer exempt from having to post calorie/nutrition info on the container?

Asked by occ (4176points) July 24th, 2007

It seems that every other food & drink in the U.S. has to list the nutritional info and caloric content on the container. Why don't alcohol manufacturers have to do this?

Great question. Not sure why. Fruit juices have calorie/nutrition but not beer/wine.

b/c they are governed by the FDA and the Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau therefore they are caught in a jurisdictional war. TTTB has no background in nutrition. TTTB is th former ATF.
