Addiction to Technology?

Asked by arcoarena (692points) August 21st, 2008

Does anyone else get depressed about dying, not because they’re scared to die, but because they are going to miss out on all the cool and ridiculous technology of the future?

…seriously it really makes me sad sometimes. haha

I feel the exact same way.

I am a bit, but I really enjoy all of the wicked stuff coming out nowadays. Seriously, ten years ago if you had told me what an iPhone could do, I would have laughed at you. I think we went to the moon is a ship with a lot less technology in it than what I have in my pocket. Crazy.

GQ. I feel the same way too, and it’s such a SILLY reason to not want to die that I try not to say it out loud haha. But i am glad you did :) . tech lovers unite!

Hey, I have every intention of using the cool and ridiculous technology of the next few decades to sidestep that whole death thing everyone seems so hung up on. = ]

Is that Wesley Willis? I wonder if he misses technology…

wildflower's avatar

Almost. Only it’s not limited to technology…...I just hate the thought of missing out on this wacky world in any way!

@ Wildflower

Yeah I agree with that too. All of the interesting discoveries and things in the world even besides technology are so interesting. I would love to know about all of the cool nuggets of knowledge in the future.

Oh and @ Peedub

Yes it is Wesley Willis! lol and I’m sure he’s still playin his keyboard and making fun of people with mullets in heaven.

Good heavens, no. I think your priorities are misplaced.

No one who is dying says “I wish I had spent more time playing with technology.”

It is a common refrain, however, to hear people say, “I wish I had spent more time with my loved ones.”

Hobbes's avatar

@Marina – I don’t think the worry is that we won’t have time to play with technology, it’s that we won’t be able to see the world develop.
